I got my new wedges through, and wanted to test them, without any prior practise - maybe not a wise move. A nice 50 yard pitch into the stream, that should have been a 90 yard pitch, sort of suggested I can't just pick up a new club and use it perfectly.
Still
1) Wedged into the stream in front of the green - 1 down
2) Drove into the trees and rattled about a bit - 2 down
3) Par 3 birdie by the Joker - 3 down
4) Drove into the trees, got away with a decent bogey, but lost to Jamie's par - 4 down.
Not overly impressed atm, tbh.
5) Par on a tough hole, and got a shot - 3 down
6) Par on a par 5 - 2 down
7) Par 3 short and right. New wedge pitched over the bunker to 2 feet ( I think we'll get along fine once we know each other )- 1 down
8) Par 5. Got to just off the green in 3, but fatted the chip, to make a bogey. Lost to Jamies par after he lipped out a birdie effort. - 2 down
9) SI1. Perfect drive. Just need a bogey to win, end up chopping it all over teh place for a half - 2 down at the turn
10) Missed my birdie putt, but get a shot - 1 down
11) Terrible hole for both of us. Halved in lots and lots - 1 down
12) Lose hole to a very nice par - 2 down
13) Don't get a shot on this one as previously thought (it doesn't affect the last round ). Had trouble getting out of heavy sand in the greenside bunker to lose to another safe par - 3 down with 5 to play
14) SI2. Got greenside in 2 very nice shots. My extra shot wins me the hole - 2 down
15) Par 3. Flappy tee shot, poor chip, 3 putts. Oops - dormie 3 down
16) Long par 4. I need a 5 or better to have any chance. A drive straight into the trees, and a couple of rattlers take away any outside chance. Lost 4 & 2.
But why am I fuming?
Coz I paid them old dears from Tuesday £20 each to turn up again today, but they took my money and did a runner.
I mean, if you can't trust pensioners, who can you trust.
