Trolley Moves Ball

I stop my trolley 15yds from my ball to fill in some divot holes (doing my members duty-of-care bit). Comfortable it is stopped I turn and do some hole filling...to then turn round and see my trolley heading off towards my ball. I don't catch it in time and it hits and moves my ball. There was no wind so can't blame that. It was just on a minor slope and after a few moments off it went. What to do.

No penalty, replace ball. 9.3 is the operative rule, gravity moved that stationary trolley.

I had a similar/not similar thing the other week.
Walking to my ball that was in the fairway, I got distracted by Fragger and managed to kick my ball 10 yards further on...
Looked in the book and all I could work out was replace with a 1 shot penalty....
Sound right?

The bloke is as deaf as a post...he'd got a leaf caught in the front wheel of his trolley
I could hear it 20 yards away..not him
I was calling over to him sort that bloody noise out when I kicked the ball....

Yep, can't finger natural forces for that one. 9.4b, no Exception applies.

Just wondering...if I'd chased my trolley and grabbed it before it hit my ball...but even though grabbed I was unable to stop it hitting and moving my ball - would that have changed things...?

I think it's simpler than that. You could not be held to have caused the ball to move by an action designed to prevent its being moved.
