I realise that this is probably a popcorn moment and goes against the grain for most on here but I've had that nagging urge to give it a go before I get too old. Many seem to have suffered bad experiences in the past going by previous threads ranging from DQ's for being late on the tee, bandits, rubbish courses, cost etc but I feel the need to try it out.

The last urge I had like this was to go fence surfing on Maho Beach and that didn't live up to expectations so I am prepared to be let down. It may be a long wait though as I am only on the waiting list for 2016 (highly unlikely to get a game) but guaranteed a place for 2017.

To be honest, I can't wait to give it a go.

Has anyone else entered for this year?

ah, Trilby Tour thread
Please refrain from taking this thread the way many other TT threads have gone which have been downhill at a rate of knots and included personal comments about the organiser. Keep your input/comments factual
It'll be pulled very swiftly and infractions issued if this advice is ignored
Thanks

Applied for Lancashire as that is my nearest option so I assume it will be at Worsley Park.

What's it like as a course ?

We all have an opinion on the Trilby Tour and it's based on lots of reasons - a lot of guys played it early in its life and the concept is good. Enjoy it as much as you can but for me with the amount of money it costs you can get into a number of opens on top 100 courses around the country as well as things like Mid Am Tour which gives you a bit of a tournament feel but doesn't have the cameras - hope you do have a good time and would be good to see a forumer win it

Risky post Three, following Mike's warning.

Despite Worsley Park only being across the road from my place, I have only ever played 12 holes there.

Hope you enjoy it.

At least with the number of discussions that have taken place on this forum about this particular topic I'd hazard a guess that the OP is under no illusions about what to expect.

Not played it yet but as a Marriott hotel course I would expect it to be pretty much the same as the others.

As a one off the money is not a problem and might even take HID for an overnight stay and she can have a spa day. Not a chance in hell of winning it but also hope to stay out of Rogues Gallery.

This isn't something I've heard of, can anyone give me a run down of the event? What is it?

It's an amateur golf comp based at Marriott Hotel courses around the country
Each area has a champ after a stableford comp followed by a 4 hole shootout

About 40 qualify for a final comp at another Marriott course

It costs just under £300 - for that you get entrance plus a bag and clothes from the organiser

It does follow strict rules and it is televised by Sky

It's not something I'd ever do but it's your money and I wish you well
