Was watching the trilby tour amateur final on Sky last night. I was surprised how good the guy who won is. Playing off 7 had all the shots; span the ball back 15 feet with his wedge shots, sank his puts ok too. Phil Archer the European Tour pro said to Lee Sharp who was commentating “what’s he play off.”

One off the runners up who was off scratch and playing on his home course didn’t even feature in the finals.

The guy who won is obviously a good player and don’t want to under value his achievement, But I’m thinking Mexican hat etc.

I watched it and asked myself the same questions especially after he got a shot at the opening par5 playoff hole and birdied it.

Looking at his swing though it was plain to see that he's not exactly a scratch player and although he MIGHT be good enough to be off 4 or 5 h/cap he's clearly not a bandit.

No,

Just thought I'd aid your thought process with a nice picture! :D

Yes swing was not all that, but i would have to say much lower than 7, like you say 4 or 5.

The young guy Omar had a lovely swing, didn't do him much good though.

John O'Leary said the course was set up pretty long and a lot of the pins were tucked away. After hearing that I was shocked that 3 guys had 40 points off of 3/4 h'cap!!

Let me get this right then.
You are comparing your swing with that of a very good scratch player, with a text book swing?
:D

It's made up of the same components.....

Just not necessarily in the same sequence

I've seen Smiffy's swing and it's text book alright!

One of them battered ones that you used to get in school.

That hadn't been covered.

And had "Arbuckle likes boys" written in the front cover.
