Love watching the long drive guys hit golf balls. I know it's completely useless on the course, but it's so entertaining. I'd rather Rory McIlroy drive the ball, and I'd rather swing like McIlroy, but it must be pretty satisfying knowing you can crush a golf ball further than most Par 4's. I consider it similar to bodybuilding. A bit of a freakshow, and serves no real practical use, but it's bloody fascinating seeing how these guys train, and the things they're capable of are incredible. I love it, can't wait for the REMAX finals in November!
Joe Miller did a similar show at the Kings of Distance day at Stoke Park this year. Was awesome to watch. As Dan2501 says I'd rather play like a tour pro but to be able to say I hit it that far and actually be able to do it would be pretty cool.
I saw a guy called David Edwards recently doing trick shots. Very entertaining and highly recommended. The control he had, left and right handed was quite ridiculous. At first I was laughing, by the end I felt inadequate. If you get a chance to see someone who does this type of show then take it.
Towards the end of that video, when he's using his long drive driver, hit gets up to 140mph club head speed and 209mph ball speed, I mean that's getting close to forum averages
