Hi,

My club (Puttenham GC in Surrey) are running Tri golf sessions this summer to get any kids involved in the game. Has anyone's children tried this type of thing? My son is 4 and wondered whether he is too young?

Any thoughts welcome

Cheers

Rich

Hi Rich
To be honest 4 is a bit young.
Kids don't really start to understand golf until they are about 8 years old.
At that age Tri golf is fun and that's the way it should stay, basic kids play.

How is Puttenham these days, I was HGK there just before they altered the course, lovely wee spot.
I helped start the junior section and the Guilford junior league whilst there.
My daughter started life at Puttenham, we lived in the house behind the first tee.
She would join me on the practice ground from about 4 years old where she would hit 25 balls to my one.
She got her first handicap aged 8, played for the County ladies aged 13, the England girls squad at 15, England squad aged 19.
In those days that was pretty rapid succession, nowadays it would probably be regarded as slow.

I would disagree that 4 is too young - boys of any age enjoy hitting things with sticks - they don't have to 'understand' it is golf (and mine started playing full courses at 5 and is still addicted 8 years later)
