Heading to Dublin for an annual match with my Brother. We contest a small trophy once a year as a way of keeping in touch.

He is the current holder of the cup, but I hope to return the silverware to its origins in October.

I need to buy a travel bag for my clubs. Dont want to rent clubs as there is some bragging rights on the line.

I tavelled to Belfast earlier in the year and the travel bag I had(Callaway) is now in the bin having disintegrated on the return journey. Only made it home thanks to some duct tape at the airport. Dont want to go through that again so want a mid range option which is not gonna break the bank but will last a few years ( and more than 1 trip)

I recently bought a Forgan Golf Hard Sided Travel Case on Amazon which I took to Australia and back. As a lot of others suggested on here when I asked the same question, the hard case ones are quite cumbersome to move (at a guess, it is about 1.8m tall) and heavy (mine is about 7kg empty). Having said that, the risk of damage with it seems to be very low and I expect that it will last. Probably over the top if you are generally doing shorthaul trips.

If you search for a travel case thread I started about 5-6 weeks ago you'll find some good suggestions on there.

I posted on this a while ago and after taking advice i went for a cheep soft bag off ebay and put a sawn off broom handle in my bag that was a touch longer than my driver to offer vertical protection. Worked a treat on 4 flights

When are you going?.........I've got a neat travel bag that you can borrow if you like......sturdy, roomy and concertinas really small when not in use.....if you can collect from Hemel, you're welcome to borrow it.....

Clubs disappeared on a flight out of Malaysia

Ouch!!

Lol.

Do a search, there's been loads of threads on this. Iv got a srixon one that's been all over the world, never had any bother with it and it folds away to about 2 foot square or something unlike some of the other bags that you need loads of storage space for them. Most airlines ask for solid travel bags but like has been said they weigh about the same as the aircraft.

Put an add in the sale/wanted section,i did few months ago and got quite a few offers and ended up getting a brand new Srixon bag at good price...

yeah - would use mostly short trips to dublin or Belfast. Definetely more keen on the softer versions

Thanks Rick - very kind offer. going on the 17th October, so have some time. If it was a one off, I would do that as Hemel is a short drive. Now the kids are getting older and there is less prams and nappies I hope to bring the clubs back with me now when I head back to see my family in Co. Antrim. Might even get to bring the clubs on the next holiday :) So I need to get one for myself.

Thanks all - going for the spalding bag recommended by MadAdey - it had the most reviews as well of all the sites I had checked.

Through the search on here I found a nice tip - to cable tie the 2 handles together, this I will do. My bag failure earlier this year was caused by a shuttle bus Driver who picked the bag up by one handle while holding another suitcase.

Hope it has a pocket for a small trophy :)

You will no be disappointed. I really can't recommend this high enough. I have a big old trolley bag and it fits in there no problem at all, unlike some of the other cheaper ones. It also has a shoulder strap and surprisingly fits on your back really easily.

BTW it has a pocket on the front big enough to get my size 13 shoes in, so your trophy will fit in nicely great choice.....
