Its not often that I have a rant about services but I am "proper fuming." Is anyone else aware that if you send a letter recorded delivery, this only means a signature should be gained on delivery, can be from any Tom Dick or Harry.

The help line for trying to find out what has happened is a complete joke, after fifteen minuets of pressing 2222221111222211111 .........choices, you finally get to an advisor who says..... they wont even look into it until the said letter has been missing for 15 working days. Then as the recipient of the letter, and not the sender, they wont investigate unless the holder of the receipt, ie; the sender, reports it as not being delivered.

A about F springs to mind.

You just know it is going to cost you somewhere down the line, whoever's fault it may be

Sorry weight off thank you. :o

They are flipping hopeless and everytime I've had a tracking number and used the website I get the same message about it being in their system or something or other...Only good thing is eventually they do pay up for lost goods.

I wonder how far they will go if this turns into identity theft

Not too happy with the sender of the letter either, but hey ho i'm sure it will all turn out fine....:mmm:

i am a postie myelf and a recorded letter is treated the same as a letter only difference it needs signed for like you say. if you want to track your stuff in future i suggest special delivery or tracked item.

Recorded delivery is a waste of time all it does is give you a tracking to prove you have despatched an item other than that is a waste of the extra 70p. Only postage service extra worth using is special delivery but it costs a scandalous amount.

classic case of how things have changed over time - recorded delivery used to be the premium service, but is now 3rd tier, so to speak.

it does what it sets out to do in my experience, and is pretty cheap for what it does IMO.

the issue of whether to use RM or one of the new courier services for any parcel is a different issue.

What does this rant have to do with golf?

And I quote from the header on this section ....

"Forum: Out of Bounds

For off topic stuff"

I presume that "off topic" includes non-golf related comment.

Thanks for pointing that out, your absolutely correct and if I hadn't been having such a rant I would have noticed that I was ranting in the wrong place.........:(

Good thing their are those who can put me in the right place........;)

If it was 'only' 70p it might not be so bad but 'recorded' is now the best part of a quid and about to go up...

Recently had a Special Delivery item arrive at work 20mins after one o'clock... Told the postie it was late who then informed it was only late if more than thirty mins after the guaranteed time... He went onto say that if it was that urgent guaranteed before nine am service should have been used... I replied surely he meant guaranteed by nine thirty service...
