Yet again, a big event, ruined by "course protection"

They done it at Augusta, and just because JD is tearing it up, they've made it a bore fest again.

I would much rather be entertained by exciting, birdie golf. Rather than watch players cosy it round trying not to do too much wrong!!

Personally I prefer golfers having to play the course and manufacture shots rather then the usual target golf that the PGA Tour serves up week after week. Hit green, birdie, hit green birdie ad nauseum. Tournaments being won 22 or 23 under par are what bore me.

The best player that hits the least shots will win.

Each to their own, much rather watch this than the week in week out target golf. Expect they look for somewhere in between tomorrow where they try and take the sting out of the greens a little with a bit of water overnight

Cant be that hard Matsuyama gonna shoot 66ish :)

It's not ruined! It's made it far more exciting! How can you not enjoy watching the drama unfold? Makes a great change from some of the boring stuff normally on display..

Matsuyama -5
Duke -5
Chappell -4
McDowell -4

The scores are there, they just need finding. Augusta scores were what they were because of wind.

They can protect it by putting the pins in tough positions, they need to manufacture shots to get it close!?

Drama isn't 3 putt, 4 putt or 5 putts. When you knock a putt at the hole and it doesn't stop when it's dead weight pace, that's not golf and not entertainment for me.

Nick Dougherty hit the nail on the head. Because it's seen as a 5th major, they've taken the huff because Days torn it apart over 36 holes.

I have really enjoyed it so far, still wide open. Do I think they have made it to hard? No , if some players can still post good scores then in my opinion it is fair for them all. There all professionals and have to be able to adjust there game where necessary.

I have no problems with course being toughened up and I'm also not a fan of target golf but there needs to be a balance between the two

As Els said they didn't let the players know they quickened the greens up so they were two foot quicker than the putting green

If you put the ball near the pin you still scored well and some people did score well but a good number were faced with impossible putts at times

Hopefully today they will soften them up a touch without going to target golf

It appears they didn't like the high scoring and the "self proclaimed 5th Major" can't have high scoring.

It was obviously too easy for the first 2 days so toughening itnup a bit was always going tomhappen.
But they went too far...
I saw a stat, can't remember the exact numbers but over the first 2 days combined the field was 250(+/-) under par and then 250(+/-) over par in the 3rd round alone....with fewer players due to the cut.......
The greens were, apparently, 2 ft faster than the practice green......
Nice.
