Someone on Twitter has just queried how world number 498 Ryan Ruffles, has got into the limited field, PGA Tour event in Korea - turns out he’s got the same agent as Jason Day, who has a deal where if you want Jason Day to play, you have to invite Ryan Ruffles!
I understand the concept of sponsors invites, but I’m not comfortable with players/agents having this much power. I can just about stomach it, for a nothing event, (aside from the money), event, such as the one in Korea - but they say Ruffles will get into the API and the Memorial because of it! Surely for big tournaments like this, they tell Day’s agent to swivel, as he’ll have to play some events!
It’s rumoured Alex Noren, (world number 15), asked for an invite to the Korean event, and was declined.
Thoughts/opinions?
