A quick one for the guys and girls in NW have any of you had a shaft fitting at tour x? I'm happy with my m2 driver however just wondering if for £50 I should look at a shaft fitting! If anyone's had it how did you find it?

Yeah, a few have been from here. It's great, really great and very thorough. Nick the guy there really knows his stuff. It's good fun. Do it.

Edit....some of the shafts are quite exotic and therefore expensive.

Would love to hear what happened at the fitting mate how long it took how many you tried etc also how many shafts do you try and do you explain your budget or is it literally any shaft

Out of of interest Andy is it just the same as a fitting at the likes of AG but with more time and more shaft options?

I've done both and it's not really the same mate. Nick is a club builder so basically buys the materials in and does the whole lot himself. Whether it's trimming shafts, grinding wedges etc. Plus, as you say, there are a crazy amount of OEM shafts to try. This is different to AG fittings where they only have a few shafts for each model. Also, you can go back to him and get things tweaked if something isn't right. The after sales service is awesome. Basically, what you get is the same as what a tour pro would get.

I've been twice now and Nick was really good with his time. The fitting was supposed to be an hour, but, TBH, it takes as long as it takes. I was there for about 2 hours in total and tried 4 or 5 shafts. My friend at our golf course did his over a couple of sessions. Yes, you can tell him your budget and he'll work within that. You can also explain what your looking for in terms of flight etc. Ultimately though your looking for a certain amount of launch angle and spin rate. You try as many shafts as you need too. He knows pretty quickly which will suit.

Go go with an open mind. I made the mistake of having a preconceived idea of what I wanted and had sort of made up my mind before the fitting. There was not much in it at all numbers wise but I plumped for a lighter stiff shaft as it went just a little further, when, on reflection, I'd have been better with the slightly heavier shaft. I'm splitting hairs though.

The tip trimming is interesting, I believe it alters the shaft characteristics so I suppose you've got to know what your doing as opposed to just chopping some of the butt.

I should've gone there, this AG double trade in is costing me a fortune 😂

Very true. It's not cheap, but for a golf nut, it's a bit of an alladins cave.

You know its good due to the amount of pros that visit him.

For £50 I'm very interested my only worry is how much shafts or I literally have no idea ha

Give them a call and ask. Nicks wife Nichola works there too and will likely pick up the phone. They have everything from stock shafts to very expensive upgrades and everything inbetween.

Hes a Bolton lad too......think he is ex Bolton champ and tidy player in his own right.

Just tweeted Nick regarding the Black Friday offer (normal lesson, putting lesson and fitting for 150) and the offer is still valid.

Booking myself in for a man pampering session ASAP.

been meaning to pop in for ages now but always forget, however I drove past today on my my way to the Tip (my current favourite pastime...) and remembered.

Already exited

I'll do a hackers review once done

Ps - KARLCOLE sorry to hijack your thread...only fair since you hijacked my twitter convo...hee hee ;)

Managed to sort out a driver fitting for xmas. Rang up the other day and looks like I'll be waiting until Feb time as apparently they're fairly low on stock and so waiting for the new gear to come out before I head down to get fitted. Really looking forward to it. Never been fitted properly for any of my clubs so looking forward to seeing if we can get anything extra out of a newer driver.

Heading there in a mo for a full assessment, putting and then normal lesson.

Buzzing.

Full day of golf pampering. Will report back.
