Just read that one of the stages will set off from Mansfield town centre. Smart that's my local town. Only problem is that Mansfiled district council has banned bikes from the town centre. That just about sums Mansfield up.

My advice for the teams and competitors. Make sure you have a flippin good lock on it 👍

Why don't they just call it the Tour of England rather than trying to give it some veneer of Frenchness - as if that makes a difference - it just sounds silly.

its actually called the Tour of Britain, was just Tashy giving it a French veneer ;)

You should of let it roll a bit fundy 😁

Joking aside, it is kicking off a bit between various factions. Some are saying why let a council that dosent want bicycles in its town centre be allowed to let them have a stage. Yes they have had problems with the odd nutters on bikes in the centre, but ban them, not everyone.

We had a stage go through were I work 2-3 years ago. Quite a sight. The outriders, police, come first in decent numbers, then some support cars. Suddenly the peleton goes past in about 10-20 seconds followed by stacks of support cars. The whole start to finish of first outriders to end of the support cars takes about 20 minutes, of which 20 seconds is cyclists.

It was an event but the ultimate spectacle of seeing the actual cyclists is a bit of a damp squib.

Cycling is a sport better watched on the box...

Love watching the grand tours... Vuelta on at present...

Your grumpy today.

Nah - I'm fine...

BTW - did you see the 13yr old lass from Farnham knocked it round in level par off the ladies comp tees when the girls comp was held at your place recently, her 'coach' sees a glittering future in her - and is wondering how he can stay her 'coach' :)

Had a stage come through Aylesbury a few years back. Right past the test centre and as I had someone on test, me and a couple of others wandered out to watch.
The bikes came through so fast and so close to each other that if someone sneezed the whole lot would have been over - real trust needed !
Funniest bit was the support cars.
They were going so fast trying to keep up that their tyres were squealing going around a couple of the bends...
All over in about 40 seconds flat.

Did she play in the English Open ? There was a Farnham girl in that but she shot 83 and din't make the cut.

Great sport but TV all day :D as they fly past all that effort parking getting a spot seems pretty worthless unless your planning on riding the stage prior or after :-)
