I really enjoy the curling in the Olympics. It has everything. It is like chess on ice. A shame that everything seems to happen with the last stone but it builds up to a crescendo every end. Shame it isn't more accessible for youngsters.

Actualy there is a alternative to the curling on ice, there is a form of curling that is indoor based. Our family went to potters leisure centre in Lowestoft and they have a couple of sports halls where they play it. The ' stones ' are rubber and have ball bearing wheels that you roll along the floor to a large target mat . It really is great fun and they even sell the curling sets.

Eve Muirhead is a big draw for me! She could have gone pro at golf too. Member at Pitlochry off scratch and turned down some US colleges. Plays bagpipes well too. Some people are just mega talented.

Hopefully the current exposure will make it more appealing to the youngsters. We have some excellent facilities here, but unfortunately many curling clubs are struggling for members, both adult and junior. Here in the Carse of Gowrie we had around seven clubs ten years ago, but now only a couple still exist.
Curling is a fairly expensive sport to play and as it is mainly played in the winter evenings, you have to extremely keen to venture out on a cold winter's night to play. Starting times are normally 6pm and 8pm, so you would normally have to skip your evening meal and rush off from work for 6pm or get home and cosy and then have to go out again for 8pm. The social side has also declined as most curlers have to drive.
At the moment I am watching the finals of the Scottish Curling Championship on TV and there are probably no more than fifty spectators watching. It also makes you appreciate how good our Olympic teams are.

I have watched more curling in the past 3 days than I have done in my life.. love it. Unfortunately, the coverage is not as brilliant as London -where the explained each sport. Cant wait for the Semis today.. come on TeamGB.

Just a thought, if Salmond gets his way in Sept, I wonder what would happen to the GB team? A bit of unintended collateral damage

I love the curling great tactics and skill , see the equivalent of loudmouth trousers creeping into the scandinavian lads ..
Didnt the Scottish women win gold for GB last time or a while ago ..

Call me sexist but I think the GB women's team captain has the most beautiful eyes. I hope they can emulate the gold from a few years back but tough match ahead. The men have a tricky one too. I'm not a huge winter olympics fan but the curling always gets my attention

Just put it on through the Beeb website, seems a bit wrong that your opponents can be on the ice while you're curling your stone/stoning your curl and can basically disrupt your turn!

Disrupt your turn? I've not heard or seen this before, what did they do? I'll be honest, having watched OVER 2 matches of curling this winter olympics, I consider myself a self confessed expert. Easy innit.

Obviously I'm an expert now I've been watching for 5 minutes+! Britain v Sweden, so far I've seen the Swedish guys brushing (I assume thats the term - being an expert now if it wasn't already it will be going forward) a the stones onto a different line than the one the Brits are aiming for!
