After my recent purple patch of playing well I expected to do well but ended up scoring a pathetic 27 points.

I drove the ball well and putted well, approaches were ok also. The problem was my touch around the grees was abyssmal, and absolute disgrace to be honest and a total embarassment.

Off for some serious practise methinks.

Absolutely gutted but thats golf I suppose.

Jon,
"Absolutely gutted but thats golf I suppose."

After your excellent rounds, you were probably too much up for it. Next time try to treat it as just another round of golf and I am sure the great scores will come along.

Nevermind mate.

Short game is always the best practice IMO, go have some fun knocking loadsa balls to different targets. But make sure you use a solid, repeatable technique.

Goodluck next time.

Has Lewis been in touch about the meet yet? :D

You're probably trying too hard mate. We've all done it after playing some good casual rounds. Relax and keep trying.

Join the club, played Mentmore (Rothchild) yesterday, having never played it before. Was a great experience shot 43 points, hit the ball well of the tee, lipped out for eagle on 13, got the birdie :(. I just could't get the ball of the tee, and when I did I would have putted better with a spade. Its so frustrating but tommorow is another day, so will be improving then, well it can't get worst

DOH! Oh well mate, your a bandit for a while longer, you drowning your sorrows tonight?

I have spent the last week on my short game and have found it so hard keeping my focus. Good luck working on it mate.

Thanks htl,

Will only go up .1 for todays round, but that doesn't affect my actual handicap. I might try and play in the Qualifying Stableford tommorow and see what happens.

Got the monthly stableford tomorrow. Played yesterday (drove poorly and chipping was rubbish) and went to the range this morning. Timing and tempo all out and hitting badly. Got it together towards the end when I focussed on tempo and not the swing but still too many shots way right (part push, part fade). Sort of hoping the mist will put paid to the round so I can focus on my swing but if not going out with a positive attitude and believing tomorrow is my day.
