So I'm pondering a new purchase when the sales/christmas sale of older clubs kicks in (stuck in Africa till the 28th anyway!)
Currently my bag goes 3w 4h, so I've got a gap there, now the options are a 3 hybrid but I'm not really sure I'd get much more out of it than a 4 hybrid, a 5 wood, or a 2 iron.

Opinions please.

How far, on average do you hit your 3W and 4H?

Forget what iit says on the club. Get a club that fills the gap regardless of what the paint says.

Surely the most important thing here is the loft not the number?

Your 3w is most probably 15 deg and your hybrid 23 deg. So logically you need a 19 deg club to fill the gap.

A 5 wood is the answer.

2 iron isn't the easiest club in the world to hit. 5 wood or 19 hybrid would be miles easier to hit consistently.

my 19hyrbid and 5 wood go similar lengths but have very different flights. my 19 hybrid hits low bullets whereas my 5 wood hits high soft landing approaches.

Nobody on here can tell you what is right, we don't know how far you hit each club or what sort of distances you normally have into greens or the type of shot you are looking to hit etc etc.

Go out and hit a few demo clubs and see what works for you

A 5 wood generally has a high ball flight.
A 2/3 iron would normally go lower
A 2/3 hybrid can, with a bit of practice, do both.
If you can borrow a few clubs, try them on your 14th hole and see which one works best.

I'm considering an Adams tight lies to be honest, it will be for off the deck on long par 4's and par 5's.

I've recently bought myself a tight lies 16 degree 3 wood. Don't know why, but I've always fancied one.
Tiny little head in comparison to other 3 woods, (more like a hybrid), but looks superb when sat down behind the ball and is very confidence inspiring. I find it easier to hit than my old Cobra S2 and I'm making much more solid contact with it.
I got the latest (2014?) version, and picked it up off of the bay for peanuts. It was listed as "used" but if it had been used I can only think maybe once or twice.
I will at sometime buy the matching 5 wood.
(In fact, just put an offer in on one!).

I thougt this threaad would bo about whether you should get your named embossed on a new tour bag......

as for clubs, I have the TM burrner 2.0. 3 and 4 rescue then 4 iron,

Personally I go 4 iron to 5 wood, as mentioned very different flights.

The tight lies woods are very easy to hit and pretty reasonable on the bay
