Top Courses in East Yorkshire

This is my manor....

Brough and Hessle a nice old school courses, and the best layout and condition in my opinion. Cottingham is also very good.

Our East Hainsworth park is very nice, and if you want a challenge in the wind try Flamborough, which is a tough cliff top track, especially if the wind blows!

Avoid the local munis as they are crap, and south cave is bland. Burstwick is good but is quite new.

hull gc is boring but good condition. Too bloody snooty for me though!

If you need any other information let me know

Hainsworth Park nice? :D

Hardly.

It kind of depends on where you are in East Yorkshire.

Around Hull, I'd agree that Brough and Hessle are good tracks. You might struggle to get on Hessle at the weekend though.

Cottingham is quite nice. Avoid Skidby Lakes, Ganstead, Sprindhead and Sutton.

Hull is a nice track too.

Cave Castle has come on leaps and bounds and I wouldn't personally describe it as bland at all.

My own club, Beverley, is worth a visit if you're after something a bit different.

Further out, I'd really recommend Hornsea. That is a top quality course. Filey is very good too. Ganton (obviously) is absolute top drawer but pricey. Flamborough is a nice course.

You've got quite a choice really.

How much are the green fees at Brough and Hessle?

I live in Gilberdyke, so Brough is only ten minutes from me.

I was thinking of having a drive up to KP too as that is only half an hour away.

Basically as I improve I am wanting to try out all the clubs in the area, so when next year comes I will become a member of the course that I like the most.

I am playing at south cave on Sunday. Very cheap, especially with the 2-for-1 vouchers. I played Boothferry park last week.

KP is quite a new course, coming along nicely, with greens annd fairways in good nick. Not easy to hold some of the greens owing to the dry weather. Nice new clubhouse and a variety of holes, mostly pretty open with only a few young trees about. Plays tough in the wind though!

I would echo HRC99's comments on the other tracks in the area. Not played Brough yet (you reading this Chris?), but lived there for many years and it's reputation as a fine course was known to me before I even took up golf!

As most of the others have said, Beverley, Filey , and Hornsea are my favorites.Flamborough is great after the first 5 holes, and probably the friendliest club in the region.
I'am in Brid and Belvedere is in great condition, and the Links is improving, as there has been a lot of work done, but the greens are not the best at the moment.

Ganton (obviously) is absolute top drawer but pricey.

Not necessarily.
They're doing a twighlight deal of £45 each after 4pm during the week.
However, we've managed to wangle it for 2 fourballs on the saturday afternoon before the Yorkshire Amateur Championship.
Maybe the financial situation is even affecting them.

Isn't beverley's course played across the westwood though?

Surely you are going to run into dog walkers and cows?

It certainly does. The dog walkers don't really make any difference. You might wait for a minute or two a round for someone to move out of range but the Westwood is huge and they tend to stay away from the course.

The cows are back out and god bless them, they are keeping the rough down. Again, they tend to steer clear of people.

I'm a member up there so if you ever fancy a knock just drop me a pm. ;)
