Been off work for 3 weeks now and played alot of golf and i have slowly starting to improve but when it really counts i dont seem to beable to put a decent score together.

I have now played 12 rounds in last 7 days and nothing special at all.

I am tired of it all tho but i am away for next week tho but will get a game or 2 in while am away but i dont know if its due to me being so tired and need myself to relax and get back into things etc.

It is the high of the golf season and i have made no impact at all tho i have been practicing within the whole 3 weeks aswell when i have time tho.

I Have a lesson 2mo evening but i am not sure what to get them to work on tho.

Putting?
Mental Game?
Pre-shot?
Consistent?

Hey fm.....I've followed your story from day one. Seems to me you are expecting a lot, maybe you are just making too big a deal of everything. Try and enjoy things and set up a good routine which is not too much or too little. I've been back 10 months and it frustrates the hell out of me that I can't find the game I left behind 9 years ago. BUT, I'm loving every minute, good or bad, hooks or slices, monster birdies and 8 foot 3 putts.....

Good luck......it's only for fun at the end of the day.

I honestly think its the metal side of my game tho but I do have ideas etc to help with that

I wont be giving up tho but i might cut back on tournaments cause am playing alot at the moment and am not seeing any results tho.

I have what it takes to shoot low scores etc but i just cant seem to put it all together tho

Had a similar thing last year. Got made redundant in the January so really tried hard to find a job but was still out of work by May when the better weather came. As you can guess, stopped looking as hard and played golf most days.

Didn't really imporve and was ingraining old faults. However once I started my lessons in June the change was remarkable. Because I had the time I was able to concentrate on each part of my game and had a lesson of various facets (swing to correct the faults, putting, pitching from <100 yards etc) and could then spend the morning working on each part while it was fresh and go out and play in the afternoons.

Was playing off 20 but everyone thought I was 10 or less. I was hitting it miles, my irons were close most times, short game was hot and I was holing putts. In the end I had to get a job and so now I'm like everyone else and just practicing as and when and playing as much as I can. As a result my handicap hasn't moved all year and I'm not as consistent.

My advice would be to take it easy and not put too much pressure on yourself Maybe get a quick lesson to make sure there are no silly faults creeping in and get the pro to give you some drills to work on your game from 100 yards and in. That is where your score will be made. Focus on the putting and chipping and your scores will drop.

Just enjoy the time you have to play. Maybe go out on your own and don't keep score but just play the ball and enjoy the scenery. It will de-clutter your mind and you may even play better.

looks like golfing overload Fairmorn.

12 rounds in 7 days is pretty intense. Fatigue could be a cause. We're not professionals are we?)

We all love golf but I think if you cut back a bit on how many times you play in a week, it may bring back your enthusiasm to an extent where you will really look forward to playing.

Everything sorted this afternoon.

I played this morning and i was all stiff and sore all round but i had a lesson booked for the afternoon and here is the results from it all

Hit a few balls and told him that i was striking ball well but wasnt able to get a score together or be consistent so after a few balls he seen what my problem was.

Just a wee fine tune to everything and i was back on track. Consistent fade with good contact every shot. I was happy as previous i was standing upto ball and wasnt sure if it was going to fade or draw. The previous lesson he said to work on turning hands over to try play a draw. But as my natural shot for years is a fade so he is happy for me to continue playing a fade which i showed him i can hit shot after shot neway.

Then He told me everything is fine with my swing etc just had to tune my address a wee bit from the last lesson then we continued with lesson learning on how to shape long irons. Which i did struggle to start with but i will work on it but the strike on them is good again.

Also Am not transfering my weight fully through the ball to bring myself up on my back foot, I havent done this in all the years i play golf and he thinks this my be related to why am unable to draw long irons consistently. Also was telling him about my driver not being consistent and said the same it might be related so i have to work on my draw on long irons and also work on transfering weight through properly and rotate to bring myself on my back foot.

I felt alot more happy walking away from the lesson. He is very keen to help me progress as i told him i want to get really serious and progress and he is willing to help me.
