Played a great round today, shot 87 (17 over) which is only the 3rd time I've broke 90. The two guys I played with didn't play great, one shot 101. By the turn, he was commenting on the time it was taking me to take my shot. I've slowed down a bit to hit better shots which is working, and my putting has come on well, but notice I do take a bit more time to hit the thing. Mr 101 counted 14 'wiggles' before I hit the ball in an approach shot. I would say I was over the ball for 15 seconds before hitting it? Including practice swing. Clearly it's helping my game, and I must say there was some sour grapes after we looked at the front 9 scores and I'd done it in 41... Just wondered if I'm average or I am indeed over wiggling? We did the front 9 in 2hours flat, which was a good time, bit longer on the back as we caught up with the group infront who held us up on the last 4 or 5 holes a bit. So we're not slow players by any stretch of the imagination!

Everything is annoying when your playing badly, i wouldnt take it to heart. Although 14 may be slightly excessive

Congrats on a good, satisfying round.

If you score like that then so what but if Mr 101 has counted correctly and your timing is accurate that's almost one wiggle per second :).

"I see you baby, shakin' that ass, shakin' that ass...."

I like that! I'll hum it to myself next time I'm wigglin'!

If 14 wiggles is correct then I would guess you are taking more than 15 seconds over the ball.

2 hours for a 3 ball for front 9 would suggest the pace of your group was slow. How long is the course?

sorry but even Duffner doesnt wiggle that much.....................15 secs gives a lot of time for stuff to get in your head....

Think Snedeker and not Bradley:thup:

P.S I just tried 14 wiggles in my living room..................even I was shouting in my head JUST HIT IT

If you are not noticing it, then I'd suggest you ignore it - for now. Mr 101 may have counted the back and forward as 2 wiggles btw.

But if you start to notice it, you may need to do something about it.

Reminds me of the Garcia regripping. I would say that number of waggles is excessive but it clearly works for you. Maybe see if you can tweak your routine a tad and see what happens. Is it a deliberate number or just a nervous reaction getting ready to play

I'm a slow player but I won't hit until I'm ready. At least that way I only have myself to blame, not anyone else forcing the issue.

Yep you deffo have problem, maybe all the wiggles you were taking over EVERY shot had something to do with your playing partners playing crap, God it would drive me daft standing waiting on you. 87 blows how many wiggles was that that you had, mind blowing.......

Correct.

Clubs need to do more to stop this happening and spoiling the game.

Why ?? 4 hours for 18 holes, so what, you want to play faster, then go on no one is banging on about you playing faster than others and if I or others are happy going round in 4 hours so be it ( or is your money better than mine )

2 hours for a 3 ball to play 9 holes ? and that was a good time ? ib be classing that as slow not a good time mate

well done on breaking 90 tho , i dont believe it, im agreeing with my ole mucker Bomber here :D id have probably left you to it after 9 if yo were taking 14 wiggles a shot , even if you had shot 31 , even if i had shot 31 .. that would be bit much for me im afraid

There is nothing worse than playing with someone who is slow, wastes your day.

2 hours for 9 holes well that's just pathetic, the OP says they caught the group up in front about the 13/14th hole. Thing is they should have been there right behind them all the way round, it's expected that you keep good time and don't lose ground to the group in front and they seem to have been lagging behind and will have no doubt been holding the rest of the course up.

Slow play is a major problem in the game at the moment and needs to be addressed.
