Todays Match

Will be my match play singles against a mate who's dead competitive. He plays off seven, (I'm off 14) and have never beaten him, even in a knock round our place. Whatever I do he just raises his game to beat me. The ONLY chance I've got is that sometimes, just sometimes he has a violent hook off the tee and his head goes to mush, as once it appears he struggles with it. I have got a bit of a plan, which worked in a game I played last year, but I was shocking that day and still lost, so I'll be using it again. Wish me luck, but I predict it will be all over at the 14th.

Good question. Another that would rather focus on my game and not be worrying about any mind games to beat anyone. There again I'm rubbish at matchplay and lack a killer instinct

Lost. Should have won. 3 up at one stage. He was not on his game. Took him to the 17th though had a shot on him to get it back to all square and somehow drilled the ball left into thick trees and scrub.

Proper gutted. The best bit was on the fourth. He rolled his putt to 10cm leaving me with two putts for the hole from 2 meters. He walked up to his ball and casually picked it up. I starred in disbelief at him and after a quick think said "Are you giving me the hole?" His reply was that he thought I'd give him the putt, to which I replied I hadn't and most certainly wasn't going to. LOL ! He didn't do it again. I think he just forgot we were in a match, as we were having a great knock together.
