I am 18 and have a Ping G15 driver 10.5 degree regular shaft which I usually hit fairly straight with a slight fade about 240-250 yards, I have quite a quick swing speed and was wondering if any of you would have any wise words or experiences about switching to a 9.5 degree driver or if it would be more beneficial to re-fit my shaft for a stiff one to try and squeeze a few more yards out of it ?

I don't believe you are going to get enough benefit from either change to warrant changing, unless you are currently overpowering the shaft, so holding back - which I doubt is the case.

Better to try and eliminate that fade which is probably costing you 10 yards or more depending on how slight it is - though a very slight fade is probably the best tee shot for distance with control.

True, because I hit a fade my trouble shot is often a slice which can be quite punishing when trying to keep the score down :/ ideally would like to try and hit a slight draw and not spend on a new driver or shaft so I can try get a few more yards consistently

hi,,i switched from a 10.5 to 8.5 ,,i couldn't believe how difficult it was to hit the 8.5 for me it was all wrong so know I'm sticking with the 10.5 witch i was hitting very well with

in my case i was thinking i could get more distance with the 8.5 & i didn't so in the spare bag it went

if i was you just be happy with the 10.5 & practice another part of your game

if your still not sure make sure you try before you buy

good luck ,,,,
