Great way to get rid of the old stock....... ;)

Seriously though, a very clever piece of marketing from TM, they'll have TM converts for life from some of those guys on the range. God to see Sergio smiling and having some fun as well.

this must be what a southern Forum meet is like, but instead of Sergio its Mike Harris Turning up with all the free gear to hand out;)

Sentiments echoed. Nothing remarkable about it aside from a played-out marketing ploy.

oh dear- wonder if you would have felt the same if it happened to you

No, I'd have felt pretty chuffed at being gifted a brand new driver, of course I would. Completely irrelevant. This is PR at its most fundamental - see any giveaway...ever. I don't think TM deserve any plaudits for handing out free items to unsuspecting members of the public. Nothing clever or innovative about this piece.

So a manufacturer decides to give out free stuff to over a hundred unsuspecting people as well as some other nice touches and you believe they should get no plaudits at all for a nice gesture ?

It's one of the reasons TM's marketing bill is $200m+ a year,,,,,,,

It's the same as the Callaway KoD day - pure Marketing.

Fantastic if you were there but still Marketing.

of course its still marketing but so what! Dont see wilson doing this. Cant believe tm give away free stuff and still get slammed. so I'm guessing you forum users would have said "ram it sergio! I ent getting wraped up in this marketing ploy"

I think not

Er..I'm not slamming them...
Perfectly reasonable marketing ploy if you can afford it - and the likes of TM and Callaway can. The likes of Wilson probably can't
As has been said they'll probably get 20-30 TM Lifers from that day, making it financially worthwhile - I know Callaway sold a lot of clubs on the back of the KoD day...........but it's still Marketing.

Let's not be sensitive here - "slammed"? I simply said it wasn't that remarkable. And it isn't. Fair enough if you, as a company, want to offer out free wares to foster interest in your product. Fair enough if you, as a company, want to attach your name to celebrities. Fair enough if you, as a company, want to invest all of that money in research and development and developing a class-leading product.

Some companies - TaylorMade, Nike etc - are fortunate enough to be able to do all three. Let us not pretend this is them doing a good deed out of the goodness of their own hearts.
