I know Pro V1's are meant to be the dogs bollocks when it comes to balls but I went into the pro shop and bought some Titleist NXT balls for half the price. 12 for £20. I was just wondering if you think this is the right decision. Should I just splash out and buy either Titleist Pro V1s or Titleist NXT Tour which are a 4 four piece ball compared to the 2 piece NXT :D

I like the NXT tour, it seems to fit my game at the moment, it does seem to fly straighter for me, than pro vs.

buy bridgestone there cheaper and the same as a pro v1 they developed the prov1 anyway why do you think titleist brought out a new pro v1 when there was nothing wrong with it

Now use ProV1x but used NXT tours previously and couldn't fault them, probably go back to them when the current job lot of ProV1xs are in the river.

As far as I'm concerned (higher handicap than you) the price of the ProV1 range is something I cannot justify. The difference for me between these 2 ball ranges is not worth the money.

I dont usually lose lots of golf balls. 1 or less a round normally. A box of 12 would last me at least 12 rounds. Does anybody have any opinions of whether I should stick with the regular NXT. I just feel like I cant spin it enough when chipping. I just want to see what other players think of the normal NXT.

I use the NXT Tour or AD333 in winter when the greens are soft and they are decent ball. However on firmer summer greens (summer - HA!) then they do tend to roll on a bit further than a Pro V, Z Star, Penta etc and are a bit firmer when chipping which I don't particularly like with my dodgy technique.

Titleist pro v1/x practise balls for me, £19 a dozen. Exactly the same as the £40 ones, just have practise stamped on them which I put a line through with a sharpie and use for alignment.

another ball which I have used of late is the Callaway diablo HX tour (got 12 free with my putter but can pick up for around 19.99 a dozen), straight, fairly long although I am not a big hitter lovely around the greens and not too savage off the putter.

Only got 1 left so will be back to the ad333 but would deffo consider buying some more. A friend uses the standard NXT and loves them, guess its just down to personal preference

As I understand it ....

If you impart unwanted side spin to the ball in your long game but still want a reasonable amount of control in your short game, then Titleist recommend either ProV1x or NXT Tour.

Don't know about others on here but I rarely find either of these type of balls in the rough or trees so there might be something in it.

The other benefit of NXT Tours is that they don't cut up easily unlike some other "premium" balls.

I use Callaway HX Hot Bite and usually discard them when they become worn (smug expression). Strangely enough though, I have been finding lots of Pro-V-1s in the rough lately while looking for fellow-competitors balls.

Not at all surprised. Golfers of all standards think that these are the dog's danglies of golf balls as you can get them to spin so much. Too much side spin off the tee and they are gone.

I find as many ProV1's as I do Top Flights

I usually discard my balls BEFORE they become worn, (unfortunately), even smugger expression! :D
