What's with all the stamping, is it just me or does it look childish and tacky?

Agreed.... just don't understand this copycat stamping craze... can see why pros might have clubs initial stamped when there might be dozens of clubs in manufacturers truck at events getting gripped, tweaked etc... but Joe Bloggs getting his Vokey's 'JB'ed....

I think that picture is just showing what you can have done at wedgeworks, if you so wish.

The SM5's are plain with the usual engraving.

why not? you spend the money on the wedge, if you like it, why not have it personalised?

personal preference, if you like it do it, if you don't you don't have to. lets not make this into a thread attempting to belittle anyone who might like this kind of thing.

Well only you have brought that up

Are wedges a club that people change yearly, every 2 years, when they fall out of favour, when the next new model arrives, and so, why personalise devaluing them to such a degree, unless you know other people you can sell to with the same initials

And...what's with the crazy offset stamping, seems its being copied across a few manufacturers lately!

I would go the other way if I could. the cleaner the better imo! I would be happier if my vokeys only had titlelist and the loft on it!

Great news that the SM5's are out.

I'm off to eBay to price up some SM4's :D

As an aside. Mizuno also offer custom stamping on their wedges

well you did ask 'why on earth would....' which would insinuate that you are not a fan which usually on this forum turns into a torrent of attacks against people who might like it.

maybe I was a little hasty, just didn't want this thread turning sour!

I'm not biting :smirk:

Although I have no reason or desire to change my MP-T4's, I wouldn't get them stamped, but, if I did, it wouldn't be with crazy offset lettering everywhere, it would be a bit more subtle

I think stamping is great to have as an option, just like being "that guy" with your name embossed onto your tour bag.

I'm undecided if i would do it or not, I like my things to look simple and clean, but that said I do like the idea of what Rooter has done by having his wedges with his kids names on, if your doing something like that then your likely to keep them collecting dust when the new bats come out.

Stamping isn't a new thing and done right looks good - seem a lot of with stamping on a number of clubs
