Morning all.

As per the thread title, anyone played a round or more with the new Titleist Velocity balls? Just wondered if they are an out and out distance ball or if they spin ok around the greens too. Titleist's marketing blurb describes short game feel, but feel and spin are completely different attributes.

Call me a tart, but I quite like the double digit numbers in orange!

From what I read, they provide the distance but not the short game spin.
A bit like the NXT was.........
Should be a decent all-round ball for those that don't need the greenside spin...

found one yesterday. was doing a little practicing. decent ball. still managed to get my grooves stuck into it befoe i lost it to a plugged drive.

I bought a dozen when I was in Florida a fortnight ago and I am very impressed. It lies between the NXT and ProV1. Cost wise they are $26 a dozen, but I think they will be dearer here and as far as playability is concerned I tend to bring the ball in high to the greens so spin isn't too much of an issue even on the fast greens in the USA. Off the tee they are long too. It will be interesting to compare them in the long term though.

I played half a round with one on Sunday and TBH went back to the proV1 as they just felt dead around the greens but off the tee I thought the were pretty good and maybe a bit longer then the proV but I wasn't willing to sacrifice around the green for that.

I was given 3 on Saturday and on Sunday I used my new driver, hit it farther than expected, caught a side slope and watched the ball go in a muddy stream. Didn't find it at all. Not sure if it was the new driver or ball but it went a good distance.

I've been using them for the last four rounds - very impressed and at that price they certainly put a big tick on the VFM box. i too like the 'double digit play numbers' and the fact the numbers are orange

First point is they are very long which unless you're Tim Golfy i would have though would be a benefit

I put a lot of spin on full wedge shots (very steep into the ball) and very handsy with touch shots so again spin those shots quite a bit. I'm not noticing any significant drop off in stopping ability and good to putt with too

I guess if you dont spin the ball that much then a softer urethane cover - ProV1 and ProV1 x will help you gain more control
