I am currently using Titleist 909 D2 Driver and have the 3 & 5 Wood to match.

I hit the clubs lovely but wondering if I should upgrade them to a newer model. I was thinking of going to the 915 range, cant afford to switch out to 917's at the price they are at.

What would people recommendations be? Is it worth spending the money to upgrade to a newer version and will I see much benefit?

I think either the 910 or 915 are improvements on the 909. I upgraded from 910 to 915 and didn't really find much improvement if I'm honest. I think the 910 has great sound and feedback, if you can find one with the right shaft for you it would be a good upgrade.

Going to be completely different from one person to the next. As Drive4show says above, Right shaft would mean right decision. Go and fake a testing at American Golf let them let you take a few different shafts out in newer drivers and find one that feels right - then look for a titleist 915 pre owned at a respectable price.

Good Advice guys. I love my 909 so think I would be happy with the same shaft. I will be honest though I have never been properly fitted or thoroughly tested any clubs. Its possible there could be a better shaft option for me. Do you find the simulators at American Golf accurate? I am always a bit dubious of the results

It will be accurate enough for you to walk out of there without buying something and know what you want!

I have never hit the 909 but used the 910 then 915. I have found that the 915 is much better than the 910 for off centre hits for me. Out of the middle very little if any real distance gains but my mi***** don't suffer as much.

I'm always a bit wary of the numbers that simulators come up with but they are very good for doing a side by side comparison. If you tried your 909 next to a 910/915 then you'll get pretty good feedback on how they compare.

My AG had loads of 915 and 913s in their second hand and ex demo stock. May get lucky and find something that suits. As mentioned, i believe the main difference is the off center hits from the newer models.

I've got a 910 D3 8.5 degree to sell for £55 delivered if interested - replacement (2nd hand but good condition) shaft been put in - 65g stiff flex Kai'Li diamana.

If your finding fairways with the 909 I'd stick with it.

I've just been through a Ping G, M2 with 3 Shafts and a 917 D2 and I still haven't found anything as reliable (for me) as my old 907, all similar distance too.

Just buy a fancy headcover

They always seem to make me a better golfer, what's not to like. I never manage to get the 30yds of roll that they do though.

The key is to take your own driver and hit a few. Once you have those results you then have a base line to compare against. Even if the figures are a fantasy you have something to work with because you will know how far in reality you hit your own club.

On a separate note,

I see you are from Northumberland Lord Tyrion. Do you know where the closest place is that does fully custom fitted clubs? There was a place in Cramlington but its shut down now

I must admit qwert, I keep having that thought. I hit my 909 great, the most accurate driver I have ever had. Just wonder if I am getting held back a bit by the technology since its a fairly old club now

I've thought exactly the same hence me going in search of a few extra yards and to be honest I haven't found it, that's against the 10yr old 907.

It might be out there but I think the problem is that if the 3 or so stock shaft offerings aren't giving you that extra distance then your looking at a trip to a club fitter to try other options and maybe an expensive upgrade.

I always seem to get Magic Numbers when I'm trying the clubs out on the Day

Could it also be that you may be restricting yourself to just Titleist, I used to be Titleist mad, picked up a Mizuno Iron and didn't look back!
