With the demise of Rory after he's switch from Titleist to Nike it got me thinking that theres a lot of golfing superstars who have never played as well after they switched.Tiger for one has never found the form he had using Titleist as well as Duval,Mickelson,Davis Love and Els.Four of those players were world number 1 whilst they were Titleist staffers but never found the form with a change of equipment, Woods being the exception of course as he has been world number 1 with Nike but like I say was never as good as he was with the Titleist. So play Titleist :D.

I dont think its as clear cut as that, give a pro any set and they will perform well, its in their head and as we all know golf is a game of fractions- 1 bad bounce or luck and you've a double bogie or a birdie, that's golf.

I am a massive Titleist fan though and still have a set of Titleist Tour blades in the garage I had as a kid....and they still look fantastic!

I still can't believe that people think the clubs are the issue. Either that, or this is a very tongue in cheek post...

I don't think it's so much the clubs, but maybe the ball.
I remember tiger blaming the pro v of stricker at the Rc last year for him not being able to get it airborne. With time and learning how the things go I'm sure Rory will be fine. And I don't think that the others have done too badly for themselves.

I would expect that there is more to it than that.

As above,I'd expect them to perform as well regardless of what top spec clubs they are using........

At our level its personal preference, at their level its a mental thing and a money thing...

Which wins in a fight? Mental Vs Money?

I used to prefer Mizuno but I am slowly going Cleveland.

What year did tiger sign to Nike exclusively? Would think he has done pretty well with nike sticks.
Rory still has his best years ahead of him ( hopefully)
Just for the record, a taylormade md did an interview and explained how tiger was at there place to test the drivers. He gained more yards And a tighter dispersion rate but couldn't use said driver because of his deal with Nike. So are Taylormade better? Who knows, horses for courses. :)

Tiger's Titleist and Nike irons are/were reputedly made in the same (neither company owned) Japanese forging house.

Titleist and Nike (and TM and others for that matter) retail irons are made primarily in China

Tiger's Scotty putter is not the run-of-the-mill one either; nor is Rory's that he's been seen practicing with. Doesn't mean it's better for you though, but certainly doesn't mean that Scotty putters (or Nike ones). It's ALL about what suits YOUR game.

Golf is a marketing department's paradise! Yes, you can buy a game! Spend £299 and hit it 17 yards further. They forget to say 'into the trees' with a shaft you can't control!

Ho much do you think it really costs to manufacture a club?

My favourite and most consistent club is my Vokey so I'm in :whoo:

I don't know but Rory isn't playing like the poster child Nike where hoping for...

Not buying it lads, most brand of clubs in my view are or of similar spec and quality, Rory is playing bad cos his heads not in the game. Did tiger not play mizuno before titleist?

Yeah, I'm pretty certain he has had around 10 majors and 50 tour events using Nike sticks other than a putter.

Ain't that great I suppose ;)

But I agree, Titleist are the best though
