Titleist Fitting and a lesson!

Had a lesson this morning just to get the season off to a good start. Only thing that was changed was my shoulders were very closed, had to open them up and keep the hands quieter through impact and after a few shots I was booing it again.

After that I got onto the fun part! Titleist driver fitting, to cut a long story boring and not to bore you all with facts I have a new weapon comming my way in the shape of a D2 driver, 10.5 degrees loft fitted with a Matrix Ozik 5 stiff shaft.

Am I wrong in thinking you loved your rapture? Why the change? Although it does sound like a beast of a driver the D2 with the matrix shaft.

I hope the new club and the lesson has you splitting the fairways.

I love(d) my Rapture, however I had got it into my head that I wanted a new driver and no matter how hard I tried to resist I just couldnt!!!

The head shape of the Titleist was the deciding factor for me, its absolutely beautiful, a stunning bit of kit. I also averaged 11 yards longer with the Tit compared to the dinasaur. Dont know whether thats due to new technology or the head of the Rapture has lost a bit of its ooomph being 4 years old now or the shaft is tired?

Delighted with the fitting and the club.

Incidently I believe that someone on here got a Tit driver with a Voodoo not that long ago? Who was that? I tried the Voodoo really wanting to like it and I couldnt get the ball off the deck, my ball flight was about 15 ft off the ground, low and right. Shaft was so so wrong for me!! Glad I went for fitting.

Was it ChrisMc?

I am still fighting the urge to get fitted up for a 909. It is so tempting, even though I am hitting my current 907 pretty well.

I wish every one who had got one had said they were rubbish. Then maybe I wouldn't be tempted. But sadly, everyone raves about them, and they do sit very nicely, and are suitably shiny, and pear shaped.

Now, you've set me off again.

Voodoo is very tip stiff hence the low flight - I had a Cobra S91-pro made up for me and it was supposed to have a Diamana Blueboard in it (shaft in my PING rapture v2) but they were out of stock so put a Voodoo in and I struggle to get anything like the high flight (and therefore distance) I have from my PING

I've been using a 9.5 909D2 with the Titleist Voodoo stiff shaft for a month or so now and I love it. By far the best looking driver I've seen for a long time. The ball flight is a little high which may be due to my clubhead speed, I'm right in between stiff and extra stiff at the moment so I think I will get it tipped around an inch to bring the launch angle and spin down a little.
I had the 907D2 and to me they feel a world apart. The 909 is like the Titleist drivers of old, solid feel but with the added bonus of being more forgiving.

yeh it was me that was fitted courtesy of GM, and ended up with a D2 10.5* with a YSQ Graphite Design Tour shaft in, as this seemed to suit me best, on the day at least !!

Love the Club so far, altho as I was with my G5, for the last few months Ive struggled to lose a slight fade, and have yet to find my normal draw.
The YSQ shaft was hopefully going to help square the face at impact, but my current swing is obviously a tad out.

Still early season, so i feel I havent seen the best of it as yet, but feel sure it will come.

They are sexy clubs..... :p

oh yeh, forgot to mention, i didnt use to Tee the ball very high with my G5 and never had a problem getting height.

However, the D2 seems to want the ball tee'd high to get it really airborne.

Cheers Andy

Went on to the Titleist website they have opened a custom fitting center at Kings Acre GC near Edinburgh which is handy not to far to travel.
