Does anyone play with a set of Titleist CB irons?

Looking for opinions of people who play with them on how forgiving they are vs a set of game improvement irons?

Must admit my head's been seriously turned by these and fully intend having a hit myself to see what I think, but in the meantime just interested in case anyone else has made the move from fully cavity back GI type irons to a set of these and how they got on.

What are you comparing them to? Srixon1 is right in his comparison IMO, although MP54's are not exactly GI irons.
CB's in "players" irons are not quite the same as "normal" cavity backs. I had a set of Bridgestone J36 CBs and they were faaarrr from forgiving.

The above said, if your ball striking is ok and your swing is relatively stable/consistent then you should have no problem adapting to them.

My pp (off +3) has these and loves them. However he had to send them back due to a minor problem with the finish on the heads. The belfry let my pp use some ap2's whilst they were away. He has just baught some ap2's 714 on ebay. He admitted to letting his ego steer him into his purchase of the cb's.

Its what floats your boat but you can't ignore how many tour pro's have made the switch

I have a set of 712 CBs and they are good. Don't seem any more or less forgiving than the Mizuno MP 54s that I had.

Had a set with Nippon shafts. Wish I hadn't moved them on. Changed to Ping i25's. The long irons were a lot easier than the 712's but the short irons were dead. Swapped for TM Rsi-TP's, which have the nice feel I like in the short irons but the long irons are only a bit more forgiving than the 712's. The jury is now out on the TM's - could be 4 different sets of irons in a year, a new record for me.

I recently hit 3 of the new Titleist models, and really wanted to love the CB's as I think they look really smart.

I can't comment on forgiveness or easy/hard to hit because I only had a couple of baskets between the 3 clubs, but the CB's just didn't do it for me.
The AP2's I hit really well though, and at address there really isn't a lot of difference.

Being tempted by the 716 as apparently the MOI is the same as the 714 AP2's and I don't have a problem hitting clubs similar to the AP2's.

Will have to see what happens when I get my hands on one for a hit.

Interesting if true, however the CB will have a shorter blade length.

I had 712CB's with X100's before my callaways and really liked them. Saying that, my mate who plays off 5 went to Titleist at Kingsacre for a full fitting and came back with AP2's. He said the difference between miss-hits was big, difference between hitting a green and coming up short.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. Especially as I'm currently off 13, my head tells me I'm nowhere near good enough to put these in my bag. But the heart may have other ideas, and my iron play is by far my strongest suit so you never know. One of my practice clubs is an MP69 blade and I can hit that just as well as my own irons altho it's just practice so doesn't really count.

Why do they have to make clubs like those SO pretty?? 😂😂

Try before you buy ... It's never a bad idea getting fitted but hey life's short, 700 quid gets you set and your not gonna die! ching ching, buy them

What iron is the MP69?

Reason I ask is, I was at a Wilson Staff Demo day a few years back and was striping the FG Tours, the guy then went away and came back with a FG62 7 iron, it was like heaven. I then asked for the 4 iron, again was like heaven for the 1st few. I then missed a few and it was more like hell lol :D

I have a few (1/2 set, basically) of Titleist 695 CB.

After 50-60 balls, blood, sweat and tears, I can get them working for me. I don't suppose the new ones are any more friendly.

MP69 is a Mizuno muscle back blade, the predecessor to the MP4.

pretty sure that you'll be able to hit the titleist cb's no problem....on a good day. It may be worth considering what'll happen on a not so good day, will there be enough forgiveness for you?

One of the guys (4hc) at my club got himself a set of titleist irons and said they were great during fitting and great for the first few weeks but he found that when his game was slightly off he got very little forgiveness so changed them for taylormade rsi's (unsure which ones, I assume rsi2 or tp)with face slots etc and thinks they're excellent due to forgiveness when he needs it, which isn't very often.

I've got the CB's on order, 7 iron to pitching wedge, plus AP2's in the 6 & 5 irons, and the TMB 4 iron.

The 716 CB's are supposedly more forgiving than the 714 AP2's, but I can't judge as I only hit a few shots with one of those.

If your choice is a Titleist of some sort or a GI club, I'd look at the AP1 or 2 before going near the CB. There is very little offset (the main reason the fitter put me in the CB), the head isn't big and they won't inspire much confidence if you're struggling, hence why I've gone for the AP2 & TMB at the top end.
