Took my SLDR S back to the shop I got it on loan from. Told them that it wasn't really for me. No questions asked just took it right off me there and then and asked if I wanted my 913 D3 back. I enquired about fitting for a 915 D2 and he took me into the driving bay with Gc2 and we went to work.

I already kind of knew I wanted a D2 with a regular shaft because of my success with the Reg on the Ping G15 so he gave me the store demo club before he started wasting his time. He told me to take it away and use it and get back to him.

I jumped over to the range and belted a number of balls. Instantly I fell in love with it. So easy to hit. no effort at all. I went back to the shop and after discounting what I had paid already for the 913 and knocking £40 off the new one I walked away with a 915 D2 brand new for £150 extra. (£290 in total)

Took it out for 9 holes there. 75% fairway accuracy, a massive increase and shot 7 over for the 9 holes. 67% GIR too probably due to the better lie off the short stuff.

In the change of one club I've gone from being scared to hit the ball to telling the ball it better hold onto it's hat.

Great result and finally something I feel comfy with. All from an American Golf store too. All with a sore shoulder too lol

*high five*

Was impressed with it at Silvermere. However there wasn't enough difference compared to the G25 when I tried it on GC2 at a local range. Lovely looking club though and still there on the back burner!

First driver that I've felt I can deliver the clubface to the ball and feel where it is if that makes sense. I need some tweaking for sure but its a good foundation. Helps that it looks lovely too, sitting behind the ball.

Lovely drivers, I badly wanted my driver fitting to have this come out on top but truth be told I was pretty diabolical with it compared to others. Have you dared look at the fairway and hybrids as well? They look so good.

I had a play with the 913 3 wood. At the time it was set to D4 and I couldn't get on with it. Never tried the 915 fairway and I wouldn't give up my SLDR S 5 wood for anything. I'm going to have a wee look at a 3 wood though. Par 5's at my course of which there is two always leave me with a 220-240 2nd shot uphill. Dropping two shots instantly with the 180-200 range on the 5 wood and further putting myself under pressure to hit that distance is no good.

Meant to add to this last night that I was getting a consistent 98 mph clubhead speed and I was really only carrying the ball 220 yards on GC2. Was I right to override the shop fitter because I felt the regular shaft was better for me? He said I was a stiff all day long but my experience with stiff shafts in drivers hasn't been good so far.

Interesting one. By rights I should be carrying the ball further, and I know there's other factors involved like spin and strike consistency. Hardly ever got above the 220 carry yardage and I'd expect to have hit a few out the screws in the test.

One thing I know I want to work on for my lesson on Tuesday night is better angle of attack, better strike so that my 220 carry is more efficient and I'm not feeling like I'm needing to murder it. It's been a really interesting journey this driver search.

It's such a good feeling when it begins to work off the tee. Pleased for you! Thanks to mteam, I've gone through something similar recently. Worked well again during a round yesterday just to show it wasn't beginners luck! Going from Sports Direct Everyday Essentials to a Ping G10 felt like trying to cut through steak with a butter knife and then someone hands you a nice big serrated steak knife. Easy, effortless, smooth and you love the result.

I always get confused, is it the D2 with the bigger clubhead or is that the D3?

D2 460CC with draw bias
D3 440CC

What driver are you going to buy next week? :D

I'm done now Dan. That's it. If I can't hit this then I need more lessons or I should give up golf. Apparently this is Titleists most forgiving driver and suits all handicap ranges, so if it doesn't suit me I should maybe start using a banjo lol.

D2 is the 460cc bigger head, d3 is the 440cc smaller one.

I have a 915d2 with a 70g stiff diamana White shaft, I was fitted for it at Celtic manor. I swing about 108-110mph, there's more to shaft choice than just speed though.
Personally I got better results with slightly heavier stiff shafts, than lighter stiff or xstiff ones.
It's impossible for us to say if you did the right thing going for a regular, what is most critical is that YOU are happy with it and it sounds from your results that you should be.

That's understandable. Aye, it certainly feels good. A burn runs under the ground right through the middle of our course. It runs under the ground through the fairways on most holes, so it means there's a massive dip in the fairways on the front 9 par 4's and the par 5. It does mean however that any drive that is longer than 240 or so ends up in this hollow/depression and I wouldn't like to be hitting my 2nd shot out of that dip. Most just lay up short and wood it to the green. It's a right odd one, but psychologically a test on the tee on these holes with a tendancy to hold back a wee bit. This driver tends to allow for that. Others haven't. I don't want to hit it longer on these holes so it suits me to feel better in the shot even if the shaft doesn't suit my swing speed.

Btw, the fairway woods and hybrids are even better the driver. If you try them you'll likely end up with a bag full.

Crikey I'm not sure I want to hear that. I would only buy one if I had utter confidence in myself. No point in having a bag of Titleist goodies then you top it a beezer with others going down opposite fairways lol.

I Love my D3, (fitted at St Ives), the one club in my bag where I can just stand on the tee and just hit it, very very forgiving, and amazing when flushed.

Use the shop a lot. The guys are great there (Derek & Robert). Much prefer service you get there than from larger store in Clydebank

Couldn't agree more. AG in clydebank feels like a supermarket. Hardly even use the range there either. Bishopbriggs man myself :)

my swing speed was 93 and i was getting same distances for both regular and stiff.

I agree you should get more distance with your swing speed. Centre strikes, angle of attack, face and path all contribut e to maximising quality of strike.

I am from Bearsden so tend to use that. sometimes i use range at Bishopbriggs (good wee shop there too).

I like the power tees and heaters at Clydebank but its quite pricey and not so handy.
