Hi,
i have just been reading about these clubs. What handicap are these aimed at? are they difficult to hit and do they have any forgiveness?
Thank you for anyone who responds!

What handicap are these aimed at? Low.

are they difficult to hit? Depends how good you are.

do they have any forgiveness? All clubs have some forgiveness

Play off 14, can hit em well, they're forgiving enough for me.

Not sure I really get the best from them, but they offer feel and scope for improvement, which I don't think some of the easier clubs do.

Might of opened a can of worms with that last comment.

Indeed you have. Here I come with my boy scout multi-tool (ooh-er) to open that can.

THIS ISN'T AIMED AT YOU b.t.w.

Surely, there's nothing stopping anyone getting better or worse wth either extra-super-ultra-game-improvement irons or impossible blades forged under the watchful eye of Katsuhiro Miura.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy seeing single figure players and even pro's enjoying their game with G.I. clubs.

A junior at mine has swapped from G.I. Taylor Mades to Mizuno Mp62s. He's hitting far less good shots, is scrambling all over the place miles short of the greens (when he gets it wrong) and generally sending his h'cap going in the wrong way. He WILL get better, but why play golf if you're not going to enjoy it

Why. :D

Indeed, we can all improve (or at least try) with any clubs.

But there is a school of thought, and I'm not sure where I stand on this, that says that less forgiving more feel clubs help to develop ball striking and feel. Like I say I'm not convinced.

Personally I've just switched from Di7's to 755's. I've always just concentrated on hitting it straight, and think I will be doing for the a while. But when I try shaping shots on the practise ground, it does seem easier with the 755's although I still find I have to really emphasise set up adjustments.

I certainly agree with the OP poster about the lofts.

It annoys me a little that people think that your handicap solely dictates how good your iron play is.
The amount of times I read on here about how someone shouldn't use x irons because as a high teen or 20 something handicapper they won't be good enough.
Why is that person playing off that handicap - driving, iron play, chipping, putting, course management?

You play off 27, why?
You have clubs already: were you advised to buy them, custom fit for them or did you just like the colours?
Give us some clues before we can give our opinions (which is all they are) based on a little more!

Nah, doesn't bother me. I'll give an opinion without the need for a facts or clues. ;)

If you can afford to change your clubs, consider it. Get to Ping, or Mizuno, or the Belfry and get everything fitted to you, personally.

If you can't afford to change them, then these clubs are the most perfect clubs in the world. They get you out on the course when any alternative is going to be second best.

If you want to be able to draw or fade at will, then brilliant. But many of the more modern clubs are designed to keep the ball straighter, thus negating the need for you to be able to shape the blimmin thing.

I mean. If you could put your ball 280 yards straight down the middle of the fairway every time, how often will you need to be able to shape a shot, anyway ?

I play off 27 because of a awful short game! Am starting to play lower! i will put 3 cards in over the next few weeks!
I only started 9 months ago and taylormade rac were bought cheap second hand from a dads mate and given to me.
I dont need to shape the ball... I hit my 7 iron 130-140

I used to have a set, they look good in the bag. I found that if I was off my game slightly they were pretty unfriendly. Go and hit some & see what you think.

I traded mine in for some custom fit mx 200's, I hit them far better.

Don't know where you are Golfer but if you're near Scunny or passing we can pop up my club practise ground and you can have a few swings.

I play off 19 and hit mine well. I just sold my g-10's as I prefer my secondhand 775's. I am now scoring better and playing a few shots better than my handicap 90% of the time.
