Ok, big decision time, my old Ping I10's irons are getting ready for retirement (like the hacker using them). The I25's are out mid Feb, but them Mizuno guys have thrown a spanner in the plan with there MP54's. My problem is which set the 54 or the 25, I know the 25 is not out yet, but any thoughts on the 54.

I tried the mp54, wasn't impressed.

As many know, been looking to get rid of the G25's as I hate the look of the shorter irons. Nothing wrong with the clubs or the way I hit them but put that big lump of metal behind a chip or pitch and I hate it. Going for the I range and been trying the I20 and the I25 this week and hitting them nicely. Got a session on the launch monitor with my teaching pro booked for 14th February. Going to try a few shaft options but to be honest the standard R flex seem to be doing the trick. My G25 are green dot (2.25 up) and not convinced I need that anymore. Going to get him to check loft and lie too

If I was tempted to move away for. TM then it would be for the I range

I tried some irons out at the range today... The i25 was head and shoulders above anything else including my Mp53s.
Had them all on Flightscope but to be honest I didn't need it, The i25 was unbelievably straight and easy to hit.

Among the others was the Rocketbladz Tour. Wow they are long, 13 yards longer than anything else. A little on the wayward side though.

I got fitted for the I20 (hoping they turn up this week) tried the I25 and there was 1 yard difference and virtually 0 dispersion difference. Might save you a few bob if you get fitted in the next couple of days.

I take it that this was up at Chilli Dip? Who did you do the fitting with? And what others did you try?

Nah, he just likes playing about on the Flightscope checking his numbers...:D

Did the Fitting with a lad called Zac. Also Tried AP2 - Too short. X Hot2 pro- Nice, but had to be hit well. X Hot2 Reg-Too much offset. Rocketbladz Mega long but a bit wild. and some second hand Callaway X tour -Shafts like a poker

Nothing came close to the i25s I'm not bowled over by the looks but performance wise they're superb

To be fair to the other irons I didn't have time to start dabbling with other shafts in them but the i25 just felt soooo good.

I tried the I20's up there a year or so ago and they were light years ahead of everything else I tried that day. It felt like I couldn't miss (which is very unlike me as you know).. I had the standard CFS stiff shafts as well.... Lovely... But Ping!!!

Was that at Chilli dip mate?

Are them rocketbladez the ones with the stupidly jacked lofts??

EDIT seen the above.

Have to say i have not tried the i25 or20s my i15s are still okay looking. However they are out the bag at the moment and the mp52s are in, despite being 5 yards shorter per club. Reason being I just seem to be playing better golf with them. Might be the soles but I am unsure, might just be me being more careful.. What I am trying to say is a little challenge isn't a bad thing and too easy May we'll not be a good thing.

Oh FFS Coolio.. I've told you before. They only jack the lofts because if they didn't the irons would launch the ball right up yer left nostril.. Design a clubhead to launch the ball high, then jack the loft to bring the angle down... Science matey.. Science...:D
