So after speaking to a pro tonight and hitting some balls.he has came to the conclusion my shafts arent suited to my swing. I would usually think its just a sales pitch especially if i was at american golf.

But hes explained everything well to me and i do hit the ball high. Solid strikes and it doesnt lose distance but i do struggle in the wind.

Im currently playing kbs tour stiff flex.

He reckons id be better trying

s400
Px 5.5 & 6.0
Kbs x stiff

Any thoughts on the above folk??

Thanks

having those irons, with those shafts, I don't think it's the clubs or shafts............

if you want new irons - great, if you want new shafts, great, but on the basis of your handicap and what you already have you aren't going to see a huge difference from those suggested in terms of the launch angles - much more available in terms of your swing

I think you will find the PX 5.5 a bit soft compared to the others, and very similar to your current KBS Stiff. In terms of frequency (the way Rifle measures flex), PX 5.5 have a flex (FCM) of 6.0, as are KBS Stiff, PX 6.0 are 6.5, TT DG S400 are 6.1, KBS X flex are 7.0.

So the PX 5.5 probably don't add much, and S400 is not much better. The PX 6.0 might be worth a look, and KBS X if you want to step up a fair bit. However, a good clubfitter can fit you to intermediate flexes using hard and soft stepping, so if someone can diagnose exactly what flex you need, it can be made up for you.

You can also get any KBS shaft (Tour or C-taper) in + flexes, which are halfway between one flex and the next. KBS S+ is about 6.7, for example.

One other thing is that different players perceive shaft flex differently, due to the different ways these shafts are constructed (but stiffness, tip stiffness etc), and the weight and balance, so try a few to tune into your personal preferences on flex.

Ah cheers ethan.

So Duncan you reckon going to a heavier less spinning shaft wont make a difference?

not what I said

I agree with Ethan that the difference in the majority of those shafts is nominal; and generally players will adjust to such changes to reproduce what they already do!

the KBS Tour X S will be noticably different - but I am suggesting that even that change wouldn't suddenly mean you go from a 'high ball flight' to a penetrating ball flight.

A lot is in your own feel to, I personally feel with the PX 5.5 I can really go at the ball, not so much with the KBS Tour which I feel needs a far smoother swing.

Good shaft the PX 5.5, I know someone who may be flogging a set
