Having watched Tiger Woods on television over recent months, I can't help noticing a certain lack of passion in his golf compared to previous years when he seemed to will or bully the ball into the hole.
I think he is missing Steve Williams as his caddy. His present caddy is very capable but I think too low key for Tiger & doesn't bring the best out of him.
The other thing that puzzles me - with his tremendous track record over the years, why did Tiger need to rebuild his swing? It certainly needs someone cleverer than me to understand why.
Can anyone explain it?

Do you know what you've just done. I'm off to hide as the pro and anti Woods factions sort it out again. When two tribes go to war.....

My two penneth is that I disagree with the missing Williams thing. I think there was too much baggage between them and the relationship had broken down and that Woods needed to break it off. I think it is the putting that is missing. Woods in his pomp was the best holer outer from 10 feet and less but he can't seem to make a putt these days.

The swing rebuild was primarily enforced following the last knee surgery as a way of taking some of the strain of the knee to ensure he could contiue playing. I think he's got a bit lost in the mechanics of it all (bit like Faldo did when he started off with Leadbitter) but I think he will come good again. Not sure major winning good but certainly enough to win on tour. Anyway before the flak starts flying I'm off for cover

I dont think he's missing that idiot kiwi, but i do think he's missing the scotty camrron newport putter that he couldnt miss with. He'll win 3 times this year, it looked to me that he had fire back in his belly.

Yeh but someone needs to light a fire under his ar$e, he will be lucky to win once this year.

the problem is people like you look too much into things.his performance over the last 3 comps aren't that bad.he finished top 3 in abu dhabi and top 10 a week or two later.

fair enough he went out in the 2nd round of the wgc but luke donald went out in the 1st and we don't hear anyone moaning about that.these things take time so we can't expect him to be like he was before straight away and to be honest he may never be like that again.

It's all about the putter. Wins a shedload of majors with it and then dumps it for a Nike creation. Dollars played an influence methinks. Tiger get the Scotty out of the naughty cupboard...

Funny how the current number 1 in the world is the best at holing out from 10 feet too? Could this be the key?

Tiger is still a good player but imagine that he was new to the tour on this reincarnation. He doesn't hit the ball as far as many of the others when he used to thrash it well past the previous 'big' hitters. He had imagination and could/would play several different shots to suit the course. I think that he has become a bit one dimentional in his long play (admittedly he used to play from some weird and womnerful places) and this has taken away some his aura. His putting is good but not the best and some of his 'feel' shots have been woeful. I respect his achievements on the golf course but I am not convinced that he will deliver a BIG win this year.

Unless Williams used to read the putts, I can't see tiger missing him at all. Tee to green he is still good enough. But his putting is woeful. He looks like Sergio.

I agree wholeheartedly when it comes to Woods' putting - for months he has not been able to hit a cow's arse with a banjo from 15 feet. But tee to green? He may have recovery skills which are second to none, but he needs them because his accuracy from the tee makes even me look straight.

If Woods drove the ball as consistently as the likes of Westwood he would still be right up there in my opinion.

I like this idea.

If he was some Guy who has just come out on Tour he'd be getting much less coverage, his World Ranking position is a little skewed thanks to his win at the Chevron - it was an event that arguably shouldn't have carried WR points - and on current form would be on a par with the likes of Ben Crane, Aaron Baddeley and Jonathon Byrd without that win.....

He's showing glimpses of good form but he needs to do a lot more to get back on the podium.
