Tiger's new coach............

Been introduced by his mate Begay.

The young coach has a chance to make a name for himself.

the only point I can see in that is to prove that an action (the upper body swing) has an equal and opposite reaction (in the hips/legs) with no ground force to anchor.

p.s Well done on +2 coach, your on fire, where do you find the time? (hope your not in NY just now)

Bizarre video. Not sure what the point of it was, maybe there was some context when it was shot. As Homer said, he'll definitely make a name for himself, one way or another...

just shot to underline the importance of ground force. rather than just stand on the ground & swing - a thing many golfers do - just a ways to highlight & draw attention to how important the 'active use' of ground pressure - both downwards & upwards - is during a swing motion, as opposed to a vague 'shifting of weight' from one side to another - another thing many golfers do.

rather than jumping from the high board, same lack of ability to generate any 'speed' in a clubhead would be true if the golfer was just suspended of the ground by some inches, or standing on solid ice.

Also strongly suggests that 'keeping the club-face square throughout the swing' does not produce 'optimum' speed - better to drop it (on the inside/lower) and then use muscle torque to get it square.

I agree, there's certainly a resemblance to Gary Neville! :D

Como is very into Bio-Mechanics and is finishing a Masters in it. Studying under a Dr Kwon who focusses on sports injury mechanism. Kinda fits the bill for Tiger.
I reckon they will be trying to build a swing around Tiger's injury induced limitations
I really hope it works
Personally I had hoped that Tiger would have picked up the phone to Butch

That would make sense. He certainly needs to protect the body and find a way to get it round

Lol. It's a far cry from Woosie's answer when asked how he'd describe hitting a golf ball - "It's a turn back then a turn through with a swish in the middle." I like knowing about the numbers as much as the next guy but personally I think it's possible to be too technical about the whole thing. Sometimes these golf 'gurus' are so tied up in the science they forget the art. Just my opinion of course.

Dr Sheldon Cooper is similar

Er...No!

I have 25-30 years experience of Dr Sheldon Cooper type (brother)!

Remember though that Tiger's coach is Como (the Teacher), not MacKenzie (the Academic)!

Como's role is to use the findings of the academic and get the message across, about how to apply the findings, to his pupils! As an analogy, Dr Sheldon Cooper was a useless 'teacher' - as was my brother (1st Class Honours degree in Quantum Mechanics/Mathematics but kids were climbing out windows during some classes), yet I know a very 'poorly qualified' teacher who was truly inspirational!

I hope the Como/Tiger relationship works out!
