Tigers back....

Well its just a registration and he did that last year too before having to pull out

So its not that he'll definitely play, but he's definitely not not playing!

Hope he makes it

I think there is 2 chains of thought now with heading of Tigers back

Tigers back.............................. is knackered again

Tigers back.............................. how long for this time

The guys has had his day, he's a spent force. Shame really but that is the reality.

And this is why I'd love it !!!!!

Agree, someone could say Tiger might play & win in the future and he's yesterdays player, a has-been

Say instead that Langer might make the cut at the Masters and its backslapping & high 5's all round

What point are you trying to make here?

Bernard Langer is 58 and his missed 8 cuts at the Masters since 2006, of course it's high 5's and back slapping as he's turned the clock back and shown he can still cut it for a few days even at a course that he admitted himself is now too long for him. Likewise with Watson at Turnberry.

All these vids of him wacking driver again is great to see.... but if he wants to compete I want to see his short game, as duffing chip shots again is just gonna get him rinsed in the media if he's not sharp with this part of his game.

What different does it make if he comes back or not,the guys had his day and theres no way he's going to mix it with the likes of Speith,Day,McIlroy, Fowler or indeed any of the worlds top 50 nowdays and lets face it its more of a form decision and not injury which decides if he will play in the US Open or not.

That Tiger's career and prospects divides opinion like no other player and attracts just about every variable of opinion in-between

Some will cut him no slack whatsoever and wish he never competes again while others would forgive him for running off with their daughters

For other older players its almost unanimous, 'this is a flashback to their glory days, good on him, long may it last, wish him well etc'

Tiger will never get that support (& to a large extent it's his own fault)

You cannot compare an older player playing champions tour golf to someone who should still be at the top end of the world rankings.

If Tiger at 58 does what Langer did im 100% certain you'll get the same reaction. Tiger is 40 and should still be turning it on but he's not and that is a shame.

Tiger Woods for me had the best short game in the world in the 2000's and was probably the worlds all time greatest clutch putter.

It changes nothing, his game is all but over like Seve's was at a similar age unfortunately lovers wont admit it and anyone who disagrees is deemed a hater.

Tiger Woods is still a massive draw. I know folk going to the Open at Troon on the Thursday in the hope he plays so they are guaranteed to see him when they really want to go Saturday but are scared he misses the cut, he still has that draw.

One thing that interests me is that quite often I see/hear comments suggesting that, as he isn't likely to be as good as he was before, he shouldn't bother coming back. But Els, Goosen, even Mickleson, plus many more aren't as good as they were and you never hear such statements.
Tiger just polarises opinion so much, it becomes yes or no, not maybe, with regards can he or should he.

True, but none of those others you list were ever as supremely dominant as was Tiger.

To me a fading Els or Mickelson is interesting but a similarly diminished Tiger is not something I want to see. I would much rather have my memories of him in his glorious pomp untainted.

I felt the same about Big Jack and was glad that he dropped the Seniors' Tour pretty quickly as I did not want to see him competing with those who, in his prime, could not live with him.

I'm only comparing them in terms of how folk support/don't support their sporting ambitions/efforts

i.e I don’t get how you say his game is all but over but also say at his age he should still be at the top, should he not even try to come back from injury?

He is one of the sports greats
He is attempting a comeback from not insignificant back injuries
Any other player attempting it would get almost unanimous support
He won’t

I’d kinda like him to succeed because I enjoyed watching him play so why not hope to see it again some years on?

I've no axe to grind with him. I don't even know him. I’m just a golf nut that would like to see it in the same way I like to see Langer make the cut or old man Watson run the youngsters close

I just don’t see a downside in Tiger trying to test himself once more but because he might fail doesn’t mean he shouldn’t try
