Tiger Woods to be fined

Actually, for once I admire him for saying that. He actually sounds like he wanted Harrington to have a better chance of beating him. I think he revels in that last hole challenge.

Exactly my thoughts John. The new Slimline Paramor trying to make a point, after seeing Paddy and woods play I bet you it wasn't the world no1 that was causing the clocking.....Paddy is extremely slow.

"It is an obligation of membership to refrain from comments to the news media that unreasonably attack or disparage tournaments, sponsors, fellow members, players, or PGA Tour."

Unless there was something else in TW's interview I don't see how he has transgressed this part of their rules??

Absolutley ridiculous to fine him.
Because of the petty rules a great golfing battle was destroyed in an instant. Tiger has done a lot of things recently to annoy me, but in this intance he has redeemed himself in his support of Padraig and this was also proof in his almost non celebration after his final putt at 18, it was like he was almost embarrassed and dissapointed that it didn't go to the wire (which it should have)
Well done Tiger and gutted for Padraig, he played some awesome golf all week.

Hi,
Paddy used to be slow but not any more and Tiger is not that fast of a player he spends a lot of time before deciding on which club and a lot of time on the putting green not sure how they lost so much time.
Mike

It's well documented that Woods has a lot of respect for Harrington so I'm not surprised that he said what he did. Maybe I'll change my views of the man when he stops the spitting and the rule-bending. That will take a bit more than one nice comment in defence of a fellow champion, though.

If the referee had told them at the 16th that he was putting them on the clock, he would have previously have warned them that they were falling out of place.

I didn't hear or see Tigers interview where he talked about the incident but John Paramour isn't likely to have acted without a good reason.

Harringtons shot over the green into the water was just a bad shot that ultimately cost him a chance of a win. But what about the shot before where he missed the green ?

Better luck this week for him I hope.

On the contrary, Freddie. I thought Seve was great. I don't ever remember him having the crowd move a mountain or hunt for his ball for 40 minutes. I thought he always behaved according to the spirit of the game.

I too thought Seve was great but he wasn't adverse to confrontation and revelled in that.

He famously tried to bend the rules with John Paramore when trying to take relief from a scrape. He would demand to see another referee if he didn't get the answer he wanted. He was notorious for his coughing and moving about whilst others were playing particularly in the Ryder Cup.

All the time he believed that others should bend for him as he "deserved more respect" in his view.

I think this is completely separate issue from the discussion last week on Tiger's on course behaviour but again Tiger does not come out of this well because he has transgressed Tour rules

Harrington might well have speeded up but he is still regarded as one of the slower players on tour - and I suspect like any of us, no more so when the pressure is on.

As DCB says the group would have been warned before actually being put on the clock so it's not as if Paramor was suddenly on Harirngton's (on indeed Tiger's) shoulder saying "hurry up"

Publicly questioning rules officials is against Tour rules - and any PGA Tour member no mater how high or low profile they are can expect to be censured

There are established channels to go through if a player wants to question a decision - Tiger should have used them, and not the press, to make his feelings known

I did like it when Paramour stitched him up nicely during one confrontation. Seve was arguing that he could get relief from a hole which he believed was an animal scraping. Paramour was convinced it was just a hole.

"Do you think it was maybe made by a dog?" say Paramour

"Yes, yes, eet ees a dog. Yes, I see that now", says Seve.

"Ah, well a dog's not a burrowing animal, Seve. Please play the ball as it lies."

What were you thinking Seve? Should have said rabbit! Classic.

Just reading the report again and Tiger just says that Harrington rushed his pitch because he was on the clock he doesn't actually say that he was wrong to be on the clock, so it doesn't look like he criticised Parrimor as such.

Seve will have hit it close just to get his own back ;)
