I was only 13-14 and not watching golf in those days, but that 2000 US Open must have been a weird one to watch. If someone dominated like that now everyone would say it was a boring non-event I suppose. But there had to be an element of awe there at the greatness you were witnessing. Someone just playing a totally different game to those around him, transcending.

This is why for me tiger is the goat.. jack had 2 big wins (9 and 7 strokes)

Tiger won his first major by 12 strokes

Us open by 15 strikes.

Then the open by 8 strokes

That's domination.
He was another level

The first round was very calm and a number of players were under par - Woods nearest competitor was Jimenez

The second round the conditions got worse but Woods sailed through them until the 18 - where he went into the Ocean and the story is he was left with only one ball ?

But he increased his lead by 6

3rd round was brutal and there was only one round under par but the lead was 10 shots

4th round he was just cruising and whilst everyone else struggled he found the greens simple

Whilst he was miles ahead of anyone else

At times there didnt appear to be enough depth in the challenge to him when maybe compared to Nicklaus time or even now

There was more depth in Tigers era than Jacks, as there is now compared to the 2000s.

Nicklaus was very open in regards the level of top golfers now compared to when he was playing and Woods

It is very hard to compare but the level of majors winners now and when Nicklaus was around seems a little deeper than when Woods was around

For me if you drop prime tiger and prime jack into each era jack would struggle now but tiger would dominate in any era as he moved the needle in fitness etc

Nah, not boring. I didn't watch the 2000 US Open either, but if Rory had just finished 14 under par to win by 15 we would all be going mental. Nobody would call it boring (apart from bobthesock obviously).
