Tiger, injury or give up

Maybe one leads to the other? Certainly did for me last weekend.

Plus with only a month or so to the Masters it's probably not worth it.

why give up having just made a birdie? still amazed it took so long for the thread and be plenty of theories

edit: seems he missed the birdie putt, still not sure why he walks off 5 to go if no injury tho

Must have read Graham Swann`s book on quiting , he is finished, washed up , the edge has gone , you can see it in his putting , bet you if he was up there he would play through the pain , Did he not win a US Open in an 18 hole play off , only thing hurting is his pride .............................................EYG

didnt he have some back issues last year? personally I think he needs a complete break from golf as I really dont think his head or his heart is in it at the mo.

I am probably wrong tho

He can't cut back much more, he doesn't play that many events anyway.
His body is beginning to struggle, as you say he's had back spasms in the past.
Is it the beginning of the end...?

It may just be a simple injury or spasm. Why all the conspiracies? He won several times last year so hardly washed up. Not sure if he's in the field for Sawgrass but if not and he is in pain, why not stop and make sure you can play Augusta. If Mr 144 in the world teeing off early had done the same no mention and no questions about whether he was also washed up. Let's see how he performs at Augusta and if he cites injury there. I think he might just have a good week

Because Homer Mr Woods IS num1 in the world and this was his 7th withdrawal in his career and as such being in the public eye attracts theories. The same reason as Mr Suarez or Joey Barton attract the same sort of scrutiny and players from Afc Wimbledon or Bournemouth do not.

I can't believe anyone can think he would pull out of a round without being injured. This is a guy who finished and won a major on a knee that was totally shot to bits, finished a tournement last year with a similar problem forcing him not to play for the rest of the year. Watching him he was struggling more and more to put a tee in the ground or to get the ball back out of the cup.
Like or loathe the guy he never gives up, it's not in his mind to give up unless he absolutely has to.

Andy. I didn't know that you knew my game so well.

With 5 holes to go, why give up? If he had packed in last night and headed home, I could understand the theory. But with 5 holes, having played all week, you may as well finish up, bow out gracefully and collect your cheque. Even someone with Tiger's money may as well hit a ball on the way in.

If he was having back problems then withdrawing was obviously the sensible option. Especially with the Masters around the corner.
