Tiger goes on indefinite leave

I think that's it now. His statement talks about physical injury, but really the mental strength has gone in my view.

He may try and play other tournaments but, like others have said for quite some time, he will not win again.

If you read his statement on his website, which the media reports are based on.

http://www.tigerwoods.com/news/2015...lans-to-work-on-his-game-and-play-again-soon/

He says he expect to be back fairly soon. He says aiming for the Honda Classic which is only 11 days away.

Typical of the media though to blow this up saying he's out indefinitely. I guess technically they are right, but it's just half the story.

I can't believe he has said he is not playing until tournament ready but will be back in less than two weeks. He needs to take a decent amount of time out and recover to even think of a comeback.

he shot an 82 a t the weekend, Jesus if any other golfer gave up every time they had a poor score there would be no one left playing

He's not any other golfer though is he?

No-one would be overly interested if Bubba Watson or Jim Furyk, for instance, shot 82. But this is Tiger...

He may never win again but it's just crazy how over the top most of the media have been.

Mickelson has just missed two cuts in a row therefore he must finished be finished as well. Tiger logic

Robert Lee was on Sky today, and mentioned that he thought he had the chipping yips. Seemed quite sheepish to mention the word yips though as if it was slanderous.:mmm:

It is quite sad how quick the negative spin and insulting messages surface when Tiger news is reported.

I don't like or dislike the guy but the fact is inescapable that he has been tremendous for the sport and most of the current professionals and others employed in Golf earn more money now than they would have without his involvement.

I hope he recovers his health and some form and is back playing competitively; he deserves better treatment from all.

Love how so many people talk about him like he's a decent club player rather than an elite pro. Every generation has a few greats who spur on the next generation. Tiger is one of these people.

His entire career has been based on his ability to play the game at an exceedingly high level and he has been outshining his peers since the age of 3.

His injuries have made it so he can no longer play the way he is used to and his recent form and statements have made it clear how much this gets to him. Yet all of a sudden everyone is a medical expert with a side line as a sports psychologist.

This is a sad time in golf but it's not the end because we have a batch of new talent being led by Rory McIlroy. Would be great to see him come back and finish his career on a high.

Overblown totally by media as usual. Tiger will be back for Arnold palmer and Masters, personally don't think he'll win again. If I was him I'd do a Cantona/Borg and get out near the top and focus on business/philanthropy/academies etc. He has nothing left to prove and should enjoy his millions with his family/skier lady as physically he's not going to get back to where he was and won't get near jacks record, 6.5 years since his last major.

I can't see him being at the Honda as entries have to be in by next Friday. If he wants to play the Masters surely he'd need to have some competitive rounds behind him before Augusta. Bay Hill is a month away so I reckon if he doesn't play that he won't play the Masters

Remember that after his recovery from a broken leg / broken 5-iron / broken fire hydrant his first competitive match was at the Masters where he finished fourth! I can't see him repeating that but it's not as if he has to get three cards in before he can enter!
