I'm sure a lot of you have seen this before but I just stumbled across it now.

At 14, skinny framed Tiger was spanking the ball 300 yds and had a short game already better than most touring pros at the time. Beats me why today there's so much emphasis on fitness and physical strength when clearly its all in the technique.

A good watch.

Just shoes that sometimes you can go too far in the pursuit of that extra "whatever". He had it all especially around the start of the century and those next few years.

I'm concerned that Rory will go the same way. I hope he stops building muscle now and just plays golf and doesn't lose what he had when he first started.

Read somewhere in the last couple of weeks that he had a 'comfortable' swing speed of 130mph at 18 - for some perspective Bubba averages out at 126mph now. He was obviously a stack longer than anyone back in the day, but would have been even longer if using today's tech.

I presume the muscle is a necessity if he wants to prevent injury and have a very long career.

However, I fully expect that the modern golfer will just have a shorter career. The physical demands of the game are undoubtedly greater than they were in the days of players that are in their senior years but continue to compete at a decent standard today.
