Ok guy's/gals, we've sat here reading all the post's you lot have thorwn to us about whatever you can think of. As amature golfer's, may we ask these few simple question's?
I'm sure Golf Monthly love all the view's and posts. Let us ask these?

As we said, we're all amature golfer's

Does it really matter what club's we use?
Does it really matter which BALL we use?
Does it really matter what tee's we use?
Does it really matter which kind of course we play?
Does it really matter what shoe's/clothes we wear?
Does it really matter what kind of bag we carry our clubs in?
We don't think so!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for reply's

clubchamp07.
First and foremost, this is a golf forum for golf enthusiasts. The whole point is to discuss golf and golf related issues.
Part of these discussions do revolve round the gear we use. In a nutshell, if we didn't discuss the items you mention above, it would leave one hell of a hole in the forum.

If it matters to the individual then thats all that matters!

I like Ping some like Mizuno, I like the TP Red ball some like Pro V1x! I like adidas shoes you may prefer Ecco, where is the point to this thread??????

I think you have blown a gasket, and your engine has ground to a halt.

No, it doesn't matter what clubs, ball, kit we use. Otherwise we would all use the same. However, it is a forum, so we will all argue our corner, that is what makes it interesting.

Titleist.

The only way.

Does it really matter what club's we use? Yes custom fitting will help all golfers

Does it really matter which BALL we use? Yes swing speed and weather will play a big factor

Does it really matter what tee's we use? Yes if you play of the whites you will shoot higher than off the yellow

Does it really matter which kind of course we play? No, hit fairways and GIR you going to make a good score

Does it really matter what shoe's/clothes we wear? No, who cares as long as its comfy and matches the dress code.

Does it really matter what kind of bag we carry our clubs in? No as long as its comfy

Honest answers to all above but I do like buying new gear, enjoying having disposable income before HID hears wedding bells etc.

Not yet mate, early next year maybe. Thinking of changing jobs etc soon and want to concentrate on that + golf.

clubchamp.....are you trying to depress me?

None of it matters, but chatting about it and having opinions is what the forum is for.

Does it matter I bought a driver with an unknown shaft (to me) because I trusted someone else's opinion...yes...because I'd not have risked it without...

Does it REALLY matter if nobody replies to this person???
C'ya club champ... I look forward to seeing yer next post in another 8 months.

Amen to that Madandra. ;)

Are you a member of the GM forum content comittee?

I wasn't aware all forum posts were for your consideration.

I assume you're the new Moderator for the "Ask the experts" section!!!!!

I think the questions were meant in individually, not as one big question as to the point of golf. Ive seen his golf bag and he doesnt use crap clubs.
If we were robots then no it wouldnt matter but as loads of other recent posts have confirmed, we are all different so two people using the same club can have two completely opposite results. I would say blind folded though ther ewould be less of a difference as a lot of the game is in ones head.

What I mean is would it really matter if we used a £200 driver instead of a £300 one, would it make a difference if we used £300 irons instead of £700 irons?
Really when you think about it would it really make a difference?

Potentially yes it would make a difference. With the vast quantity of shafts and head shapes that do one job or another, I could hit one head shape and shaft X yards and another head shape and shaft X+/-10 yards - the difference between being on the green or in the bunker or ditch.

No, Woods et al would still whip my ass playing with F.A.S.T irons, a K1 driver ans Stevie Wounder as his caddie. On a more normal comparison Homer, Murph, Sammebee, Medwayjon etc could all beat me playing with crap gear on their day :D.

Cant wait till the next game guys, times change.......

I think there is a point where price bracketing will become an issue, for example my first ever clubs were some generic irons and the heads were as cumbersome as you can imagine, horrible big area where the shaft met the clubhead and shafts that bent like a skipping rope at any speeds. The heads needed to be re-fixed as they al came loose. I went from them to macgregor 2000's and the step up was incredible as was the step from them to callaway x-12's, to be honest I traded the Cally's to a set of Mizuno T-zoid pro 2s and the TM RAC lts and Cally x16 pro's I had after that were very similar for my game until I got a set of AP2's a year ago.
I dont know if it is the clubs or if my swing has come on a little but I am hitting my irons better and cleaner than I ever have and wouldnt happily move back to any of the clubs I have used prior that were cheaper new.
A large portion of golf is in your head but some of the technology has to help. The price of expensive clubs these days are also a mental push because you really cant blame the clubs for any bad shots. As an investment you know you are going to use them and learn to hit them better where cheap throw away (relatively speaking) clubs, some guys wont really be encouraged to get the best out of them.

To some degree it does matter. If we want to truely optimise whatever golfing talent we all possess then it would make sense for each of us to use the right equipment to do that. This may mean higher handicappers perhaps using bigger cavity backs and a more lofted driver, mid handicaps foresaking a tour spin ball for something middle of the road and for single figures to get a C/F set of clubs built around their swing characteristics.

However we don't all fit into particular pigeonholes or possess textbook swings (as my recent video offerings prove). What we do share though is a common love for the game and a desire to try and shoot the lowest score possible whenever we paly. The fact that we don't is a bigger issue for some than others. There are those on here that are dedicated to practice and believe you get out what you put in and others that beleive family and other committments come first. That is the point. We are all different in terms of skill, equipment, dedication and desire but what unites us is a passion for the game and a willingness to talk about it.

And btw yes GM do love all our opinions and discussions or they wouldn't have dedicated two valuable pages of their magazine each month specifically to the forum!!!!!!!
