Thomas Bjorn next Ryder Cup Captain

Isn't he a bit "quiet"?

Should the captain have a bit of "character"
Or is steely determined and unflambuoyant the way to go?

Slightly devils advocate:)

Do you mean like Darren? Mmmmmmm

Captains come in all shapes, sizes and styles. McGinley was steely and not flambouyant and was probably the best captain Europe have ever had. Knowing the job, knowing the players, having a clear mind and listening to advice is probably the key. TB has served his time as player, VC and as a rep on the ET. He deserves a shot.

I am sure he is up for the job & knows what its all about. I am just glad DC didn't get to pick is mate for the job

I am sure he will make a good captain, does not come across to me as quite was he not the players union rep at one time. So he must have their respect.

.
any chance you could give us all an insight to your HATRED of Lee Westwood?
you are like a broken record mate ,and like a bad smell that rises up from nowhere whenever the opportunity to knock Westwood comes your way.
it seems its the only time you ever post on here.
how about giving it a rest as I and im sure others are getting relly fed up with your drivel spouted at Westwood.

I think he'll make a good captain, has been around enough Ryder cups to know what works and what doesn't. Yeah maybe he was chosen because it was his turn, but who else would you pick instead of him at this time that would make a better choice?

I think he'll do a good job. He's not in the clicky elite so Westwood will actually have to play his way in. It'll be interesting to see if the selection process remains the same or whether he'll have more or less picks and if he can pick the best Europeans or the best members of the European Tour. I know we've been here before but there seems to be a surge of opinion for it to be open to all eligible Europeans ...... Rory definitely said it was the way to go for him.

I wasn't aware of Kaymer and Clarke being particularly close, certainly not close enough to be classed as mates

Good choice, best available.
He is just off the top playing level so knows the form players.
Strong character who does not suffer fools gladly. Press conferences might be lively.

Probably a good move to have a non English speaking captain ( as native Tongue) as its in France. I would imagine Tommy speaks a few different languages.

been around a while and is still on the tour playing with guys who will be in contention for playing in it over the next few years.
