Seeing as it is my second year at the club, I have decided that I will put a supplementary card in every week and play as many competitions as my wife will allow (she likes the weekend to be family time
). So I have done 2 supplementaries so far and they have been okay, but have either lead to and increase or buffered. I thought it may be good to do them regularly not because I am looking for a handicap cut (which I would like) but to get that comfortable feeling of just marking a card and not be nervous when the big competitions come along. I often find that in my mind I build up the importance of stuff and just don't do myself justice because I choke, when I was younger this was hardly an issue and just went out there and played the conditions with little or no care allowing me to card very low scores.
Does anyone else sometimes stand on the 1st tee and think "hmm patience is in a bit short supply here", and then proceed to try and play a relaxed game? When I do this I do score well, or at least better than my expectation. Basically a happy disposition will be conducive to good scoring.
Also have you found forum threads affecting your game.. such as distances etc ? or new clubs ?
