Seeing as it is my second year at the club, I have decided that I will put a supplementary card in every week and play as many competitions as my wife will allow (she likes the weekend to be family time :( ). So I have done 2 supplementaries so far and they have been okay, but have either lead to and increase or buffered. I thought it may be good to do them regularly not because I am looking for a handicap cut (which I would like) but to get that comfortable feeling of just marking a card and not be nervous when the big competitions come along. I often find that in my mind I build up the importance of stuff and just don't do myself justice because I choke, when I was younger this was hardly an issue and just went out there and played the conditions with little or no care allowing me to card very low scores.

Does anyone else sometimes stand on the 1st tee and think "hmm patience is in a bit short supply here", and then proceed to try and play a relaxed game? When I do this I do score well, or at least better than my expectation. Basically a happy disposition will be conducive to good scoring.
Also have you found forum threads affecting your game.. such as distances etc ? or new clubs ?

That is completely right 0.1 has little affect overall except when at x.4 but even then it's minimal.

I know that my main problem is over thinking my score during the round when playing a qualifier. I find myself thinking about the next hole and how to play the tee shot before I have pitched on or putted out the current one and then it all goes really wrong.

Never do this on a bounce game so its just me putting pressure on myself

Trying hard to forget all this nonsence and just play but those thoughts just pop in my head and boom ...before you know it I realise I have been doing it again!!

First mid week comp today off the white tees. 27 points, but the driver was working just some of my strategy about hitting greens seemed off. The greens, are brown with dirt seed and recovering from hollow tining (?). They don't seem to hold shots, they just bounce up and bounce on. I am using a hex chrome ball and it is just not sticking. So I played some running shots onto the greens but the aprons just kill the bounce ... So I am at a loss as to what I have to do! Anyway tomorrow I have another golf day pass so I will investigate further what I should do.
