At a time when we've had several threads in recent times that have caused unrest and bad feeling within the Forum community, it's good to see the sort of post that really makes a difference.

Our resident Forum Pro, Bobmac, started a thread this morning in the Lounge. His thread, Does Practice Make You Better or Worse, has had 897 views and attracted 61 replies at the time of my writing this post. Bobmac has made between 50-60 people think about what they practice and how they practice. I myself saw it just after he'd posted and threw my tuppenceworth in early on. Lots of others have added their thoughts as the day goes on. It's been one of the most thought provoking threads on the Forum for a while.

For me, it's Threads like that one that make this The forum that it has become.

Well done Bobmac for posting a thread that has engaged so many people today.

Thank you DCB.
The idea for the post came from a visit to the range yesterday (at last it's open).
A left hander was in front of me a few bays away and he was having a nightmare.
I asked if I could help.
He had 2 main problems... how he hit it and where he hit it.
His back foot was virtually flat on the ground long after impact which wasn't helping how he hit it.
And his grip was a little too strong which wasn't helping where he hit it.
5 minutes later, he had weakened his grip and was finishing up with his back foot right up on his toes.
Needless to say he was chuffed as he thought he needed major swing surgery to cure his faults.

He also had an excellent taste in training aids

3 Cheers for Uncle Bob, always there with a gentle prod in the right direction

I reckon so many on here owe him a pint that when he comes to collect, he shall need a week to sleep off the hangover

Fragger :-)

Ye, it was a post that for me needed no more discussion than a "thanks bob". it was more like being told something than something to talk about and I found myself thinking about it in the car on the way home. It is all to easy to go to the range and wack balls.

I have been a victim of practicing bad habits, I got very good at it in fact. I went from having a swing where a club pro said to me "you are very talented, I can make you single figures" to a point where I/we did not know where to start fixing the problems I had made for myself from practicing the wrong things.

We love you bob!!

As a noob, I can say so far my experience here has been great! (apart from being told off by Chris on day 1 for my potty mouth., lol) Learnt so much already, seems a really good mix of "regulars" with some great wit and banter. By a country mile, the best golf forum I have found.

Keep up the good work all, and thanks to the mod team who give up their time keeping the place a nice place to be! And hope to get out and meet some fellow forumers when the opportunity comes!
