Cambridge Golf Range have a GC2HMT and offer an hour gapping session for £25. As I'm stopping over in Cambridge in a few days time...

How does it work exactly? Are you hitting a couple of shots into a screen with each club and then the LM calculates what the carry would have been and the roll too? And how many clubs does the session cover - through the whole bag or just irons or even all the clubs that are put into the bag occasionally depending on conditions. (I have lots of different wedges - too many by far :o and long irons and hybrids fight for a place too).

Just looking for info on what to expect from a session and also if anyone has been there before and can recommend the pro as one who gives good feedback/advice.

Have done a gapping session myself recently. For £25 I went through the entire bag. Plus a hybrid/2iron comparison to see which would be best staying in the bag. You will basically get all your carry distances, as I'm sure your aware. Mine were indeed hit into a screen but seem to translate pretty well onto the course. Just remember hitting into a screen doesn't take into account conditions of the day. But in my experience will certainly help the green in reg stats. Well worth doing

Friend of mine had it done at Cambridge. Went through the entire bag. Essentially, you'll hit your own balls into a net that is drawn across, and GC2 will tell you the numbers. You could hit into the range, but you would be using range balls, which are restricted flight and spin....so you wouldn't really gain a lot.

Friend had a some distance oddities in his, so bent an iron or two slightly to make it more even....don't think they charged for that.

Hope that helps!

Was that with David? I did one with him ages ago for wedges, was good but that was more getting my distances.

David is really good.

The other range up at Hemmingford is also good, has a big golf shop there too.
