I'm in Cardiff Bay, the sun is shining, I can see blue skies. I live 11 miles away from where I am right now, and the Mrs says it's like monsoon back home, almost horizontal rain so zero chance of a round when I finish in 30 mins. I live 5 mins from my home course. Gutted if I don't get to play today as I'd planned on getting my 3rd card in this afternoon.

Keef is right, get out there - wet often equals easier scoring as balls stick on greens and putts are slower.

I played this morning, finished the 18th just as they closed the course. It was the first round of the Club Championship, with the second round scheduled for next week but the committee have reduced it to a one round qualifier now. Everything is drip drying in the kitchen, don't think HID is too pleased.

played this morning at 7.30 and it was a bit pea soup to start but after 5 holes it was clear but grey and cold and a bit breezy but nowt to bad...all in all a good morning to play golf and the course was in as good a condition as I've seen it so far this year with alot of divoting work having been done.

Had to play a White box medal knock out this afternoon. I'm off 14, he was off 6. He conceeded on the 10th as I was 10 strokes up on him by the turn :D

I don't like the rain per se but will happily play in it as I believe that I accept the conditions and it becomes a matter of not making mistakes and just keeping the ball in play. I could tell he wasn't up for the conditions and I felt really confident of winning. Made the turn in handicap (7 over).

As long as you prepare well and accept it's the same for everyone and scoring will be difficult - get out and play.

p.s. having a good set of gore-tex waterproofs is very helpful too :)

Middle tees stroke toda, was looking forward to it as last weeks comp was cancelled as I rolled up to the proshop.
Started with a good par then had three double bogeys at the two par 5's (into a hurricane) and a soft 6 at a straight forward driving hole. on the turn I was 8 over and bogeyed the 10th hole to use up all of my handicap, the parred the way round to the 16th where I birdied the 500 yd par 5 with a drive and a pw to the apron, putted up and sank the birdie 2 footer., game on I thought, today was a very difficult day so thought anywhere near handicap will do well, bogeyed the final two holes leaving me feling a little gutted, especially the last hole as I hit a good drive and wedge to the top tier on the green then rolled my birdie putt too far past the hole and missed the 3 footer back. 45/36, what a difference in the two halves! Ive made the buffer zone again for the 3rd time out of 4 this year so far so happy enough but wouldnt mind seeing the standard scratch drop a shot or two :)

Played my summer knockout match in a howling gale. Had to give 8 shots too. I stuffed a couple of towels, waterproofs and spare gloves into the bag as the forecast was for heavy showers. I think we got a light shower for about 5 minutes (not even enough time to tee off and get the wet gear out).

The wind was a nightmare. The 9th was straight into the teeth and I creamed a driver, hot a great 3 wood and was still 40 yards short on a 400 yarder. The guy I played was off 22 but pretty solid apart from a couple of loose drives and I was 2 down with 3 to go. He gifted me 16 and I made a great par at 17 to go up 18 all square. It wasn't reachable in regulation so laid up with the intention of making sure a bogey would at least get the half. He made his bogey 6 and I had a 20 footer to win. I swear I just rolled it and suddenly I've got an 7 foot left to righter to half the game. The putting practice and change of putter today worked and we were into extra time.

I had a chance of a par at the 1st but it just broke left and he got a shot down 2 so I was a bit worried. He hit his tee shot OB and I got away with a drive that was down the tiger line (definitely NOT where I was aiming) and he made 7 net 6 (par with his 2nd ball) but I made a regulation par to knick it at the 20th

Played in a society outing today---whilst the pros at Baltray waited for the wind to ease we battled the elements.
Bloody tough conditions--The rain of the last few days did not help either as most fairways had additional water hazards.

winner came in with 31 pts.

ye today has been a strange one where i live it looks like its going to rain then like 10 mins later it blue sky's

Well, I got my round in today!! The conditions were a mixed bag, one minute there was a slight breeze and a bit of rain, the next minute it was tanking down with no wind at all....then it would be blowing a gale nd bright sunshine!

Went round 17 over par 89 on a course where I have never ever ever shot below 100 so I am chuffed to bits.

The conditions made it easier though as the greens were very wet, I made 8 approach shots from between 100 - 150yds and every single one of them stuck like glue!

Would've shot less but my putter let me down today, some of the greens drained well and were fast whereas others were sodden and really slow and I didnt get to grips with them....36 putts in total which isnt great :(

Really happy with my overall score though!

bloody good work mate!!!! keep it up

I played a Texas Scramble today in the worst conditions I've ever played in. Strong winds and visibility less than 150 yards on a course I've never played before. 5+ hours as you had to walk forward before playing any shot to see if the fairway/green was clear.
The course should never been open in my opinion, but there were three outings ahead of us which equated to 40 x £34 income. :(

What a difference 24hrs makes....absolutely bloody glorious outside today!

Bright sunshine, no wind, perfect conditions, anyone want to look after 2 kids for me? ;)

I'm looking out of the window now, supposed to be setting off at 11.30 for a game this afternoon.
Howling wind and it's just starting pishing it down.
Not a happy bunny
