Hey guys i joined a club a few months back and its only a 9 hole course, they got driving nets, practice bunker and chipping and putting area.it got a few long holes,BUT i am getting bored.i like alot of giant par 5's but they only got 1 par 5 and a few par 4s. and to play the course 18 holes i got to play the same holes over.
I know if i leave all i got to pay if the remainder of the years fee's.
BUT what annoys me the most is that everytime i want to go and play golf i cant because the veterans are always playing, so i will try and play on the day that i dont feel like playing it really annoys me.
I am not sure about what to do.
And if i do leave the club how would i go about it.
Please help me as it is stressing me out.
Thanks.

Don't get stressed, there's lots of serious things in life do that!

I think you've answered your own question, you don't like it obviously so leave and join a club you do like. They'll be a process to leave your club, probably just a letter to the secretary then move on, life's too short.

Thing is i will be joining a big 18 hole country club with all practice facilities,no tee restrictions +gym and sauna included.
Of course i will not mention that but is there a way they can find out where i am going and give me a bad refference saying * oh he was only with us for a few months and then done one* are they actually allowed to do that?

Hehe, dont worry about what they think, its a business. You joined, you dont like it and you want something better. Its not a problem. I would send an email saying thanks and that you are moving on. I would not pay the rest of the year out unless you have a contract saying you must.

Feel no way, there is no issue and they will be fine.

Why would they? You paid for a year whether you use it or not! People move on from clubs constantly, don't fret it.

Can't see why they would if you plan to pay up any remaining fee. Different if you scarper and owe them money or something. A friend of mine left my club to join a 9 holer nearby because it was cheaper. He just went to the other club, joined up and when my club asked him if he was renewing his membership he simply said no and that was that. No letter or anything.

Just drop them a note saying your leaving , give reasons if you want . Why not play a round or two with the seniors, you may learn a thing or two. Best of luck.

Reference? What you doing, applying for a job? Most golf courses are crying out for members nowadays so I don't think they will go writing to ex clubs for references.

As for veterans playing all the time, are you referring to elderly people that form the vast majority of people playing on most courses in the week during the day?

And when you say your new club has no 'tee restrictions' then does your existing one have them? As a member are you not allowed to play at certain times? Or do you mean that the members are always playing the prime tee times? As I suspect it will be much the same in most clubs.

I am in the same boat as you re 9 hole course and going round twice. This is a pain as the club cant implement a tee reservation servic. Having tried other local courses i dont think i am getting good value.

Come December i will let the secretary know i am leaving and i have already provisionally agreed rates etc with new club for Jan 1st start.

Dont hesitate or feel bad about leaving, it happens all the time. I cant wait and would join tomorrow if i wasnt such a miserable git and hadnt paid up till end of year.

I am paying by direct debit IF i leave i still owe them the last of the years fees, thenext year the fee goes up to £450+ for only a 9 hole course which i think is not worth it, and as when i say i cannot play when i want to, what i mean is everytime i go to play i cannot as something is always on for the veterans competitions etc, i cannot believe i believed that *play when you want* lies.
The course i want to join just says no restrictions at all *but i dont want to be fooled again* i will have a wood with the guy in the proshop on wednesday.

just join the other club do you really need to give a notice? as said its not changing jobs its a hobby why participate in a hobby you dont enjoy, best thing i done for my golf was switching to a busy club

Simple answer is if you aren't enjoying it and are getting bored then it is time to look elsewhere. Draw up a list of what you are looking for in a club and go along and see if they match up. Don't pay for something if you aren't happy
