  1. It's nice to play in sunny weather where the temperature is above 5 degrees and the course does not resemble a bog. I kind of already knew this but it's great to be reminded
  2. The Rocketballz 22 degree stage 2 hybrid has a longer shaft than a Ping G15 17 degree hybrid. Mmmmm, it is just the speed pocket....
  3. I managed to hit a Rocketballz 22 degree hybrid 217 and 221 yards off the tee. And believe you me, I am not a quality golfer as my handicap would be in the mid 20s at best. So possibly TM are on to something here ;)
  4. There are some very courteous golfers as a 3 ball let me and my mate tee off in front of them on the first tee.
  5. There are some very ignorant golfers as we then got stuck behind a 4 ball that contained the obligatory person who was trying to execute about 10 swing thoughts every time he hit the ball. And was taking about 15 seconds to hit every shot once he addressed the ball. On every tee we were waiting behind them and at least one person would need a reload, often 2 of them did. They then continued to hold us up for about 6 holes, despite the fact my mate stiffed an 8 iron to 2 feet on a par 3 whilst they were off the back of the green, so we kind of made it obvious we would not be then holding them up. Eventually they let us through after they searched for a ball for 5 minutes that one of them sliced 45 degrees into the trees. 20 minutes later we were 2 holes ahead of them.
  6. After a very severe grip change going from very strong to neutral, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Yes it does still feel very weird, but I am no longer duck hooking everything and some shots land on the green and stick on it instead of shooting over it which is what they did when I was drawing/hooking everything badly. Yes I have lost at least a clubs distance, but it's worth it.
  7. Ecco Streets are very comfy.

Things I learned. Don't make appointments on a golfing day. We had a 40 minute frost delay and I was due somewhere at 2.00. I was originally off at 8.48 but this would have been 9.28 and just too tight for me to get round especially as the club seemed reticent to make a definite decision on a start time. I was left worrying if I would or wouldn't get round and this afternoon was too important to miss. Won't be making that mistake again. Very unusual to book anything after golf as it is usually kipville on the settee. Hate missing a comp especially on such a glorious day

I learnt that playing 3 days in a row makes you bloody knackered, my short game is still crap, the greens haven't bedded in properly yet, which means my putting isn't improving, but the most important lesson I learnt, this is still the most enjoyable but frustrating game ever invented.

I learned that 6 pints of Stella in the afternoon does not automatically mean a long kip on the couch afterwards. Sometimes it just needs an episode of Doctor Who with the kids and all is well with the world.

Oh, and pretentious people who live in boats, drink red wine by the bottle in the pub, dress like Quentin Crisp and pretend to be poets have the most annoying little dogs in the world!!!

I learned that my chipping and putting is nothing short of criminal. 1st comp of the season and I shot 33 points in fairly strong winds with 6 x 3 putt greens and 4 of those were missed putts of 3 feet or less. Disgusted with myself to the point of booking a short game and putting lesson.

I learnt that cold weather - even when I think I am dressed warmly- adversely affects my golf swing.
The winter slice disappeared yesterday!
