Looked at my old Titleist blades and Mizuno T Zoid pro's recently and love the way they sit sharply behind the ball.

I feel I can compress the ball as opposed to trying to get these thicker soled irons to make decent contact.

My blades are ancient and the T Zoids arent shiny anymore so I was going to check out ebay for a decent set or comby set that meets the criteria of shiny and thin top line and sole (relative to todays irons).

Just needing some help on what to look at? must be forged and ideally Mizuno or Titleist (yes I admit it I'm a bit shallow with branding) but open to suggestions.:mmm:

MP4 is easier to hit than ancient blades.

Callaway has a new Apex Muscleback which looks nice, and the new Nike Vapor Pro is a clean looking blade, albeit with a lime green swoosh on it. The TM MB isn't hard on the eye either.

You can also do a blended set of any of those, with 3 or 4 to 7 in a cavity and the shorter irons in a blade.

I had my eye on an MP59/69 combo set a while back.

I'm not looking for easier to hit though, as per the OP, plus brand new clubs are over priced and there are some great sets from a few years ago........I'm led to believe.

Mizuno MP68 fits the description. Seems to be a fairly good selection on ebay. I bought an ex-demo 6 iron from a local pro shop just because it looks so good!

Tzoid Pro II irons with sensicore shafts is what you want then. Regret ever getting rid of mine back when I gave golf a break.
too close to my T Zoid pro originals.

Must admit there are loads of great sets out there for £100:thup:

MP62's, MP68's,AP2's,MB's, combo's.............I'm like a kid in a sweetshop, so many great looking sets for peanuts (compared to new today)

titleist 690mb ! ive two sets! chrome and black oxide!

agreed, they look great £149 for a set, Titleist blurb says they have wider soles for turf interaction? maybe it was wider when they came out.

*edit* just found a set at £100 and they look pristine:thup:
