A mud ball

Is mud new on the USPGA Tour?

I suppose they normally get lift and clean if it gets really wet and muddy but is this just an excuse for a bad shot?

Welcome to the real world

Mud ball!!!!! they want to try putting on our greens at the moment, freshly spiked and covered in a thick layer of sand, it's like trying to putt with a coconut snowball. a bit of mud and the pampered pooches of the golfing world cry foul....big jessies.

Reminds me of a Billy Connelly story.....
He found a restaurant in the States called Jessies with it's own private car park.
The sign read

'Parking for Jessies only'

Players are perhaps a tad molly-coddled - wanting perfection again - and 'The Committee' a tad on the 'we don't do pick and place at Augusta!' side. Personally think P&P would have been better, as no real downside and prevents possibility of disaster from otherwise perfect lie.

Why would it have been better?

These guys get every decision and ruling going. Its time they didn't get it all their own way. I bet 99.9% of the worlds golfers would love to play on fairways as poor as Augusta National!

Tee to green Westwood was a mile ahead, and as far as I know didnt moan about mud, the one who were moaning were just looking excuses, good on the committee for telling them to wind their necks in and carry on..

I agree... Thought there is something about having a 'fair and equitable lie' in the laws of golf...

I don't subscribe to the argument that pro's need to be reduced to looking merely ordinary... I like seeing them strutting their stuff in the best possible conditions...

I like the fact that the committee at Augusta didn't cave in and use P&P as I think its actually good to see the pros having to cope with all conditions and play it as it lies as we have to. I think P&P is utilised way to often on both the European and US tours

glad they just had to get on with it. played on saturday and it was P&P on the fairways only. it didnt stop my ball collecting a massive lump of dirt from the first cut on the 2nd hole. after a bit of pro moaning i managed to steer it back down the fairway.

But luckily I didn't have pay to watch you and have to sit up till 1am!

Does it really make that much of a difference to mean they can go 30 or 40yds off line? Or is the mud on the ball on their minds and they don't concentrate fully on the shot?

If the mud really makes that much of a difference it could explain a lot of my shots!

Totally agree! Our greens have just been spiked and sanded too! The greens are going to be shocking for a couple of weeks to a month!

if the mud is on the left side of the ball it will go to the right . if mud is on right then it will go to the left. supposedly.

I'm just surprised the mud stays on the ball when it accelerates from 0-130mph in about 0.01s
If it were on the point of impact it would be easier to accept.
